I signed up for this over the weekend along with the Marriott & Alaska. It is 100% worth the sign-up fee. Again though only sign up if you plan on spending the the points. 60,000 points can go along way. If you are able to 'buy' and additional 40,000 you would have 2 nights in London PL. Which retails for over $600/night.

Honestly, most of these hotel programs are turning into a joke as far as 'tier' status is concerned for upgrades and points bonuses. It's a crapshoot, depending on the hotel you're staying at and what program you're with, but generally upgrades are not guaranteed. So it's not really a perk unless it's something you can count on to get all the time.
I did a little more digging and 30,000-ish points gets you about a $100 room...so this card is not even worth the annual fee (unless the fee is waived). The 60K bonus could be worth the app and the fee, depending on what hotels you stay at.
All in all, not a very good program. Which is a shame, since I generally like the IHG chain and there's a lot of HI's I frequent...

IHG points are very lucrative if you can take advantage of the Pointsbreak promotion (5,000 points each reward night). 60,000 points can come out to 12 hotel rooms. If you manage to book rooms, conservatively at $100 each, you can get well over $1,200 in value.

Preferably I would like to earn miles in this preference:
1. United
2. SPG
3. Aeroplan
I live in Canada and I book mostly United flights. I already get pts from my cc and from the airlines. I am looking to maximize the shopping portals. Thanks.

When the point break program was first introduced, there were a lot of hotel options in both the US and Canada. Over the years the list of available hotels keeps getting shorter and shorter and I can rarely find a hotel in a big city.

The other offer 15k points PLUS $300 pre approved was a targeted pre-approved offer (i got it myself...
)......but the link above is a public offer for anyone who didnt get the pre approved targeted offer. Just think its better than the current one on the WIKI...
