It only took about 2 minutes to earn at least a few miles, so I'll still hope that they'll credit me those miles anyway. But I won't bother trying to earn more miles now.
Do any Canadians here have any experience successfully collecting Aadvantage miles on promos "for US residents only"?

There's a new batch of PointBreak hotel room specials from IHG / Holiday Inns that will be available for booking starting Monday, March 24.
PointBreaks are reward stays available for only 5,000 points. There's a method, explained elsewhere, where IHG members who already have at least 5,000 points can buy 5,000 points for US $40, or buy 10,000 points for US $70. So, if you plan it right, you can book rooms for as little as $35 per night.
Rooms can be booked at IHG / Holiday Inns' site. At present, there is a different, limited batch of hotels offering Pointbreaks rates; this list will change to the new list on Monday, March 24.

TD Aeroplan bank account offer ends March 31
Reminder: TD's Aeroplan chequing account offer ends tomorrow: Monday, March 31.
The reward is: 20,000 or 25,000 Aeroplan miles
The cost is: $0, but about $40 opportunity cost for tying up some funds for a while. I don't see any additional fees for overdraft protection.
Net value: about $210 worth of Aeroplan miles
What to do:
Get a TD Unlimited Chequing Account. Keep it open for a while, say 6 months. (I do not see any specific length of time the account must remain open. Closing the account earlier than that might cause them to flag you.) Complete at least 2 of these 3 transactions: Direct deposit, Pre-Authorized debit, Online Bill Payment. Get 20,000 Aeroplan miles. Or, accept the overdraft limit protection as well, and get 5,000 more Aeroplan miles.
Fee strategy:
This account requires a minimum deposit at all times to avoid the monthly fee ($14.95/month or higher). Strategy: If you can, go find $3,500 and deposit it in the account. No fees otherwise. I estimate the total opportunity cost of keeping that money in the account at $40. (The math:
You will not be earning (much) interest on the $3,500 that you are committing for, say, 6 or 7 months time. Since the interest would have been taxable, your lost value is about 2% x $3,500 x 1/2 year.)
Where to apply:
Apply on-line instead of in-branch, as durberville said in an earlier post.
Deadline:
March 31 to get the account. May 19 to make the required transactions.
Credit score:
If you are prone to want to limit your credit applications, then consider applying for just the bank account, for 20,000 miles, and skip the overdraft protection, which would bring you up to 25,000 miles.

Link fixed. And it's for new TD bank account customers only. Thanks, jerryhung

If you have an existing TD chequing account or had one that was closed after November 30, 2013, you are not eligible for the 20,000 Miles Offer.

Unless you are targeted, you won't get it. I knew this and I had already tried over the phone a month ago (even got them to transfer a real old TD travel card to the Aeroplan Visa so that requirement was in place) but decided to try once more today. I went into a branch and phoned. I finally now understand why you won't get it unless you are targeted.
The email or mail isn't from TD, it's from Aeroplan. There is nothing TD can do on their end. Their system needs to show that you were targeted. It's a sweet bonus with little cost or effort. I hope something else comes along.
They need to do something to get me to use my Aeroplan Visa. I made a $5 purchase to trigger the 15,000 bonus points and then put it in a drawer. Way more value with my Capital One Travel card and Amex Gold.

User lowside67 reports on another forum today that
"I just applied from a member's sig and realized AFTER being accepted that it now says 10,000 SPG points despite saying 21,000 points on their signature - thanks a lot guys."
Amex signup bonuses are only going to get tighter for the foreseeable future. Very sad.
