It's a bit different in my case. The 10,000 bonus miles after spending $25,000 in a calendar year is the reason why I will continue using this card as my primary card. Chase Sapphire Preferred can't beat it because in my case only about $5,000-$6,000 of the $25,000 are for dining/travel expenses. On top of that, I will also receive two United Club passes every year. Of course, I am interested in collecting mainly United miles.

I forgot to mention that I do Sapphire + Freedom + Chase Checking. I spend far less than $25K/year on my Chase Sapphire + Freedom, probably about 15K, and I still top anything the UA card would give me with 25K spend because of the Freedom 5x bonuses. I'll get the card and use the passes/free bag/priority boarding on my way to *G, after which I won't need them anymore.

If I put 5K on the SP for travel/dining (that's over $9.61), I get 10,700 with the 7% dividend. After that, I put everything on the Freedom (1.1x + 10 beats 1.07x). I average about $1100 on each bonus quarter, so $4400 yields a bit over 23,000 (when you add in the transaction bonuses). The remaining $5600 yields just under 7,000 with the transaction bonuses. That's a bit over 40,000 UR points off of just $15K spend. (The transaction bonuses really help me since I have a lot of small purchases that I put on my card. I spent a total of $12 today on 3 separate transactions on my Freedom, yielding 43.2 UR points, or 3.6 pts/dollar on 1x purchases).

If you put $25K on the UA card with about $5K on UA, you'd get 40,000. About the same, but with $10,000 more spend. If those extra 10K were PQMs, then that would definitely change the comparison, but they're not.

It's funny how Chase's own offerings lower the value of their affinity cards.

Good info. Thanks! I need to open that checking account and apply for the Freedom card soon.

I'd open the checking account first, then the Freedom, since others have reported trouble getting the bonuses opening the other way. Current Freedom opening bonus is 20K, I'd wait until it hits 25K or 30K. The category bonuses are great ... 5x at gas and Amazon this quarter, 5x at grocery + movies next. The Summer and Autumn/holiday bonuses are great too, just $1500 maximum each quarter, so 7500 points every quarter. That's why waiting for a 5K or 10K increase in signing bonus makes sense to me.

The Freedom also beats the Sapphire Preferred for any travel/dining under $9.62. (2.14x = 1.1x + 10, solve for x). Or <$10 if that's too much to remember :P

For whatever reason all my other non-amex cards are either 0% or 2.5%.

Your AMEX - depends on what type of AMEX card you have - if it is an AMEX AMEX, you lose far more in the exchange rate used by AMEX.
Amex publishes 2.7% as their FTF, and my checks have shown that it is accurate.

Chase has other cards that dont charge 3% forex fee - all Chase issued hotel affiliate cards dont. BA card does not, so as Chase's own Sapphire Preferred, to name a few.
Yes, I realize that now, and I probably I will cancel the UA card and switch to one of those.

You, as the applicant, should pay attention to what the fee table is, on the card you apply.
Yes, it was my mistake.

RCC Passes

So I got some RCC passes in the mail a couple of days ago, and I'm confused.

I applied for the CO OnePass card (50k on first use) in late 2011 or early 2012, maybe 2-3 months ago. I didn't think the CO card gave RCC passes the first year.

My wife applied for the UA Explorer (50k on first use) in about January/early February. I applied on the same offer in late February. As I understand it, the UA card gives 2 RCC passes when you open the card.

The envelope said "Continental OnePass", but the brochure inside all said "United Explorer". And the passes are of course RCC passes.

So my confusion: are these passes in connection with my CO card? Or are they from my UA Explorer? If they're from the UA Explorer, I'd be surprised, because it's been less than 3 weeks since I applied, and my wife hasn't gotten her passes yet.

Anyone have any experience with this?

Have you actually received the 50K yet? I'm the same situation as you that I got the Continental card last year and it is still open. Applied the new United card for 50K before CO card becomes United. When I activated my card, the agent confirmed I will get 50K after 1st spend. But I have to wait 6-8 weeks to see my miles posted to my account...

And now my CO has become a United card so I'm hoping this won't be an issue down the road in few weeks....

Anyone have luck getting to the 60K landing page even after clicking on your 60K offer? Still redirecting to the 40K page.

I had the 60K even last week and I was literally going to apply for the card right NOW and I am getting the 40K instead of the 60K after clicking on the 60K offer.

This is so frustrating!

Dear Sir/Madam
When I applied for the Chase Card it indicated I was going
to get 60,000 Bonus Miles as the attached Screen Shot
indicates.

But when I activated the card I was told I am only
eligible for 25,000 Miles. Could somebody please take a
look at it and put me in the right program that I had
applied for.

I am attaching the screen shot for your convenience.

Thank you

Hey Jaguar,

That worked out well for you, but I still need it to display the 60K offer which I guess it's not doing anymore. Humbug. Hopefully it comes back.

Thanks, MarkMcolo.

1) Is coverage only restricted to CDW? Own vehicle/ all parties involved?
2) Is accidental death and medical protection for oneself and passengers covered?
3) Does the protection also cover against third-party bodily injury and property-damage claims?

If only CDW ($1M? $2M) is included, the coverage would not be too comprehensive.

Oh, it does not show the 60K anymore? I was not aware. It showed me 60K but when I clicked it went into 40K.

Can you atleast send them a link (even if it not working), I cannot give you the link as I am not able to read it from the screenshot. Just send them the link.

It is CDW coverage only, which includes physical damage and/or theft, valid loss-of-use charges imposed and substantiated through a fleet utilization log (my understanding is rental companies typically refuse to provide the utilization log), and reasonable and customary towing charges to nearest qualified repair facility. I'm not sure what you mean by "Own vehicle/ all parties involved". I don't see a specific coverage amount, but obviously vehicles worth $1M or $2M are excluded from coverage by the "expensive and exotic" clause.

If this is happening in Internet Explorer, then do this:
1) log into your UA account under Internet Explorer
2) On the first page where you see 60k banner right click and select "copy shortcut"
3) log out of your UA account and go to Google Chrome
4) Under Chrome, log into your UA account
5) After logging in, make a duplicate tab and paste your shorcut into that tab.
It should now display the 60k, if it still doesn't work then clear out all cookies and cache in chrome and restart it, log into UA and then duplicate the chrome tab with the copied shortcut again while still logged into your UA account

I've tried chrome, Firefox, and IE. Deleted all cache and cookies. Used computers from different locations/IPs, and it still redirects to the 40K page...
