I'm new to posting here although I've read the forum posts on occasion in the past few years. I used to be too busy working to post or travel for vacations but now that I'm scaling back I've been reading here to try and increase my FF miles. I found this thread very interesting and spent hours today trying to get that 60,000 miles United link to work for me using what was said here on this thread in the last 4 or 5 pages. I never could get it to display the 60,000 miles but in going to another site I found on google I found a way *finally* and got the 60K link and applied. Now to my question about that....
After I applied I got to a screen that says they "need to review your application further" and that I won't hear back for quite a long while..."within 30 days in writing" which surprised me. Does anyone know why one gets a response like that? I have a high credit rating I know...it was 829 when last checked a few months ago. Perhaps it's because I'm self employed? Or could it be because I got a BofA card for Alaska airline in Dec 2011? Or because I have a current no fee Chase United CC (I would drop it for this new United one if I get it) Does this mean they may not approve it (the delay of 30 days)? Sorry if this is a naive question but I don't know much about how credit cards work, although I charge most things for the FF miles (I have 2 cc's and always pay the full amount each month) |

FWIW, I always call the day after applying anytime I get the infamous 'pending decision'.

Ok thanks

Thanks Richard1148 for that info & number.
I called there and after some rather unusual IMO questions and a short wait they said I was approved & would be getting the card:) |

Applied about 1.5 weeks ago for both the Chase Ink Bold and the United Explorer (50K offers) and was not approved right away for both. About 1 week later got phone calls from them (which I missed). Called back and got approved for Ink, and then United Explorer. United explorer was very easy, just moved some credit around at the rep's suggestion (wasn't even mine). Looking forward to earning some miles!

See post # 1031 on previous page. I haven't called yet. Let us know how it worked out.
Update: I called 888-245-0625 and the rep looked up my app using my SS number. I was approved. :) So if you get the pending message, it does not necessarily mean that you will be denied and have to call the recon line to plead your case. |
Am i eligible for united explorer sign up bonus if I currently have the continental one pass card that I got with a 50K sign up bonus last march?
The annual fee just came up so I'd like to now get the united explorer card and cancel the continental. Not sure if I should cancel the continental before applying or keep it open as leverage incase I need to decrease a credit line. Thanks |
I was wondering has anyone here had the continental card and then after march 3rd logged into there account saw it was converted to united but then applied for the new united card and still got approved?
I was just wondering because my continental card expires next month and I would like to apply for the united card and get the bonus if possible. |

I just got the CO biz card for same reason -- only question is when to cancel card as Chase will one day convert all CO to UA and then we will not be able to apply for the UA biz card -- anyone have any thoughts on this
So far over the course of the past year I've applied for: Continental personal bumped to 50k, now United Continental business bumped to 50k, now United United personal 50k Sapphire Preferred 50k transferrable to United I still need to do: United business Chase Bold < missed the product change double dip here Maybe they'll change products or give me another bite in a few years. |
