So for anyone with an existing Continental OnePass Plus card that (apparently) converted to UA Explorer -- at least as shown on Chase's account management site: has anyone had success with applying for UA Explorer post-March 3 merger/rebrand and gotten approved for the 40K/60K bonus?

I received a new offer : 50k miles AND $50 statement credit. Has anyone else gotten this offer?

Email or snail mail? Do you have a link or is it targeted?

Question: I have the Continental OnePass Plus MasterCard (obtained in December, 2010). It has just been converted to a United MileagePlus Explorer card (according to chase.com), though I haven't yet received the replacement card. I presume that Chase will let me keep the same card number, thus my MileagePlus card will be a MasterCard, and not a Visa.

If that is the case, would I still be eligible for the signup bonus for the United MileagePlus Visa?

This is the same question I've been trying to get an answer to.

I dont think anyone definitively knows, although the terms of the agreement would point to you NOT being eligible. However, YMMV and if you want to give it a shot, come back here and let us know what happens.

What do the terms say? Note that I signed up for my OPP card in 2010.

My 60k banner ad is also being redirected to the 40k application. Last week it didn't do this.

After it redirects you ... if you replace the 40 with a 60 and hit enter, does it take you to the 60k? It did this to my dad and when we typed in the 60k, it went there and he applied.

No. Are you sure you are getting this same result right now? I took database classes and this is certainly a redirect with possibly my account information appended to the 60k address.

"This one-time bonus offer is only valid for first-time United MileagePlus Explorer Card members with new accounts. Previous and existing United Airlines cardmembers/accounts are not eligible for this bonus offer."

I am reading this as any MileagePlus Explorer account (Visa or Mastercard), which I assume your continental has now converted to. But whether this is put in practice or not, I dont know. Other posters in this forum have had success getting the bonus even though they hold non-explorer United cards, which is in contradiction to the second sentence of the above terms and conditions.

Ours were working on and off last night but it went to the 40K link now after I read your post and checked. It went to 40K link despite the banner remains 60K. The site seemed to be very unstable last night - it either went to an explanation page of the card but no application landing page, let alone the application itself, or showed the landing page briefly - it was very fleeting. UA also had a banner announcement about system upgrade last night so I decided to hold off. Today I totally forgot about it until reading this thread. Oh well. I have not been able to use any UA/CO miles on desirable partner award for the past few years. Tried very hard to book a one-way partner J award to Asia earlier this year and nothing was acceptable - long layover, 2 or more connections, going the wrong way such as via Europe or get this, Australia with high taxes - I ended up using AA miles again to fly non-stop on CX. I would be much more upset if I miss an AA miles opp.

No. It did not work for ours. It kept re-directing to the 40K offer.

Strange ... My dad ended up applying yesterday morning at the 60k link. When I was trying to show him how to sign up (which was tricky because of the merger I couldnt find the banner at first) I finally found it and it was 40k. I changed the 40k to 60k and it did in fact go to the 60k page. Screen shots and documentation later, he applied and was approved.

I will tell him to make sure it was in fact 60k when he goes to activate it.

may not be right place to ask question...but here it is

Background : I have chase freedom (applied 2008), sapphire (05/2011), southwest(10/2011) and priority club (02/2012).

Question : I am thinking of applying the explorer card, would applying for this card trigger alarm on number of chase cards one can have??

teammjs Mar 10, 2012 2:19 pm

last weekend the 60k link erred out once you clicked on it (it resolved itself by Monday night).

i'm hoping the re-direct to the 40k is just the same maintenance issue-- maybe at least a system "improvement" over the flat-out error from last weekend.
