I applied for the UA Explorer card (50K miles) on 3/1/12 and found out over the phone that I had been rejected for "too many new Chase cards".
Facts: I applied, and was approved for, 4 Chase cards in 2011 (Jan., June, Oct. and Dec. 30th). The card I applied for on 12/30 was difficult to get. It is the Ink Bold. After grilling me for 10 minutes about my business income, and future expected income, I was finally approved. So when I applied for the Explorer card on 3/1 I wasn't surprised that I was turned down. I politely suggested that she close the Sapphire card I opened last June and, after putting me on hold for 2 or 3 minutes, she came back & said I was approved. :) Don't give up if you are declined. The big question in my mind is would I have been instantly approved if I had closed the Sapphire card a few weeks before applying. Good to have a "bargaining chip" I guess. I currently have 2 Chase cards totaling $20K limit, the SP and the BA card. If I can't get the BA card annual fee down to 0, I'll trade that in for a new card, most likely the UA. |
Could someone please confirm if the 60k mile offer is still alive and still appears when logging onto your United frequent flyer account?
If so, I will transfer miles into a relative's account so that they will see the offer appear when they log onto their account. But I clearly would hate to give them the miles only to have them find out that the offer is dead. |

The 60K offer is still alive in both my husband and my mom's United accounts, just like it was before the "transition".

Still shows 60K available in my account. The actual application doesn't say anything, so I've taken a screenshot of the 60K offer for when I do apply.
Also, I see this: https://www.theexplorercard.com/MPClubComingSoon.aspx |
Chase Customer Service tells me that my OnePass Plus MC was already converted to a MileagePlus Explorer card very recently. I also see this change when I log into chase.com. Is it too late for me to be eligible to get a bonus miles offer for signing up for a new MileagePlus Explorer card?

50% more miles from now until April 29, 2012
Hi, this is my first post, so I apologize in advance if this has already been mentioned elsewhere or shouldn't be mentioned here. I just wanted to share a poster mail I received today. Here are some of the details:
Earn 50% More Miles with your United MileagePlus Explorer Card. Accelerate your mileage earnings with this special limited-time opportunity. Let your miles take you farther. Use your MileagePlus Explorer Card and earn 50% more miles on all purchases made from February 29, 2012 through April 29, 2012. It's simple: - Use your card for all of your purchases. - Earn 3 miles for every $1 spent on tickets purchased from United and Continental. - Earn 1.5 miles for every $1 spent on all other purchases. - Redeem miles for flights, hotel stays, rental cars, and much more. Don't miss out on this opportunity to earn more miles. Get started today. Consolidate your spending onto your MileagePlus Explorer card and get to your dream destination sooner. I'm assuming my credit card has already been enrolled in this offer, as there is no info on activating this offer. Also, thought I should share, I've had this card for less than 2 months. |
My 60k banner still leads me to the 40k page. Very odd.
