may not be right place to ask question...but here it is
Background : I have chase freedom (applied 2008), sapphire (05/2011), southwest(10/2011) and priority club (02/2012). Question : I am thinking of applying the explorer card, would applying for this card trigger alarm on number of chase cards one can have?? To go through recon line, and Explain different benefits of this card. One free bag , 2 passes per year and u will be flying UA CO More frequently due to new job description and want bonus miles Also UA MPE is usually Visa. Are your other cards visa. Could request a master card version and tell them VISA not accepted everywhere u plan to travel. That's a last resort answer Offer to take CL FROM other cards if you have to give to the UA card |
both i and my gf got the 60k promotion by mail
|
I'm really glad I swapped my CO card for this UA offer about two weeks ago. The 50k just showed up on my statement. Timing is everything in the credit card offers game!

The 60K offer works for me right now - I got to it from my United FF acount and changed the 40 to 60 in the URL.
|
Used my CC for the first time yesterday.
How long before I receive the 50k miles? |
I didn't see the $50 statement credit, but I went ahead and applied today anyway for the 60k offer. It's been over 3 months since my last Chase card, which was only my second card with Chase. I got the we need to review your app further screen. Should I wait for the letter or go ahead and call Chase in a few days to see what was decided, and if necessary, ask for the reconsideration line?

No. It did not work for ours. It kept re-directing to the 40K offer.
I have never been able to pull up the 60K offer on my laptop even after changing the 40 to 60 in the URL (have not tried clearing cookies as too many passwords to try and remember). I went to a computer that I had not previously logged on to UA/CO just now and got the 40K add, changed the 40 to 60 and reloaded the page and saw the 60K promo with my data filled in. When I try this again on my laptop I still get re-directed to the 40K promo. I am thinking about applying for this 60K promo now but as I closed my OnePass CC with chase (opened in 2010) in Feb of this year, it is now showing my closed OP MC as an UA Explorer card so don't want to waste the credit pull for a card that I may get turned down for. Advise is most welcome. |

Ours were working on and off last night but it went to the 40K link now after I read your post and checked. It went to 40K link despite the banner remains 60K. The site seemed to be very unstable last night - it either went to an explanation page of the card but no application landing page, let alone the application itself, or showed the landing page briefly - it was very fleeting. UA also had a banner announcement about system upgrade last night so I decided to hold off. Today I totally forgot about it until reading this thread. Oh well. I have not been able to use any UA/CO miles on desirable partner award for the past few years. Tried very hard to book a one-way partner J award to Asia earlier this year and nothing was acceptable - long layover, 2 or more connections, going the wrong way such as via Europe or get this, Australia with high taxes - I ended up using AA miles again to fly non-stop on CX. I would be much more upset if I miss an AA miles opp.
No. It did not work for ours. It kept re-directing to the 40K offer. Happy, I had the opposite experience of you last month with getting codeshare award on CO's web sight. I got Asiana Business and Singapore Coach, although I have a little bit longer flight than CO/UA. However they were gone within a few days after I booked them. |

I think it is a cookie issue for you. Recommend you clear cookies and or try a different computer that you have not logged onto your UA/CO account/s.

Advise is most welcome. I may refresh IP address tomorrow to see if it makes any difference. I swapped my 9 months old CO Onepass Plus card to MR card on 12/01 so I really prefer to wait out March before applying another Chase card despite I have plenty of CL to move around. In fact the recon specialist would rather me to move CL from Freedom instead of closing CO card. The close CO Onepass Plus card just shown as United banner but did not say it is an UA Explorer card. May be it is because the card was closed last year? |

You are right. It was a system maintenence issue. The 60k address for everyone's 60k banner link will default to 40k if NOT LOGGED IN to your account (use same browser type only). Once logged in, it should display 60k. So today it's working. It would be interesting to see if anyone who only gets a 40k banner add to display to try one of our 60k address and see if they still get 40k or 60k. If they get the 60k then there is not offer validation appended to each persons address for the 60k offer. There still may be the name/addres/FF# details appended to the address to autopopulate the same fields on the application.

For the days I looked, (Feb/March travel checking in late Dec) I saw lots of Asian flights - all required long layover at ICN though. Lots of China airlines via PEK, too. There were also a couple LH flights via MUC, and Dusseldorf I think (why not FRA?) and even a VS flight via LHR and a VS flight via SYD! All in J. There was even a UA F via China. Problems are, they are all connecting flights with very inconvenient layover, meaning coming from East Coast I would have one connection to get to West Coast, and then another long layover somewhere in Asia or Europe, or gasp, Australia, before reaching HKG... Using AA miles on CX non-stop premium cabin was really piece of cake. I booked a J MIA-LAX-HKG just 10 days before departure. Later I switched to F MIA-DFW-SFO-HKG when CX F opened up, with a voluntary downgrade to Y on DFW-SFO. After 2 requests and an appeal, AA opened up F availability for us on DFW-SFO a day before departure. All changes are free, versus UA/CO charge $75? $100 per change? The beauty of AA miles is, you can always change to a better routing for free. Also no close-in booking fee as we are AA GLD. All in all it seems UACO miles would be less valuable for us for the travel pattern we have currently. May be on the next trip if we plan several months ahead, things might be better. |

I hope it is the cookie issue but apparently it is not because I cleared ALL cookies / caches/ browsing history, close browser and tried again, it was still the 40K offer re-direct.
The close CO Onepass Plus card just shown as United banner but did not say it is an UA Explorer card. May be it is because the card was closed last year? The cookie affecting it is called "AuthCookie" under pss.united.com, you can see that under Chrome via Options > Under the hood > Content Settings > All cookies & site data > pss.united.com > AuthCookie. If you don't have this AuthCookie showing then it will redirect to 40k. In that case, clear all browsing, exit the browser, clear once more to make sure and login into united and recheck that cookie is there. My Chase account also shows my former CO card with the Mileage Plus logo. I closed my CO card in Dec and have never had a MP card. |
Wow, for whatever the reason, I can now apply for the 60K offer and I just got instantly approved!
As I posted few days back, I tried logging into UA with various machines (XP, Win 7) and combinations of Browsers (IE7 & 8, Firefox 3.6) and clearing all caches, still no luck in landing on the 60K page, always got redirected to the 40K page. Today, I use Firefox 3.6 on Win 7 machine, clear all cookies and everything, login to UA using my UA flyer number, and I immediately see the advertisement offer banner at the top of my account screen with 60K offer!! Took a screen print and applied, and got instantly approved. However, just one little thing that bugs me. When I click the banner and applying the card, someone it auto fills my application form with Continental flyer number, not UA flyer. Is that standard? or is it Continental flyer number is replacing UA? Thanks |
