Thanks, Trojan Horse, will await your further findings but it appears that this is a "universal" BB good at any Marriott property (except, perhaps at the Vacation timeshare resorts/villas), and are not limited to just the non-FS Marriott properties.

Inasmuch as Marriott has now varied the types of BB given in certain regions during certain promotions, pray tell, what is the area that the subject hotel can be found?

Thanks, as always,

NJ

Bonus bucks are only valid with a 'public' rate. Since e-breaks are Marriott rewards member restricted, BB's cannot be used.

that being said some people had luck with using them.

I dont know all the T&Cs of the MEB, but they are Not elite member restricted. Just go to marriott.com and put in any city that has them being offered for coming weekend San Fran eg. and put meb in the code box and w/o signing-in you will see all the hotels offering them.

I thought you had to be an MR member for ebreak, not elite ( I'll fix my post )
But now I remember someone mentioning using an RSS feed to get the alerts and not even signing up for MR.

I was confused as I remember some old post where an FT member had to argue to use BB with MEB rates.

edit:
as per T&C:
" eBreaks® rates are exclusive to customers who subscribe to the eBreaks program."

so anyone who has access to MEB code can use them and as the rates are publicly available.

you dont have to be an elite member but you do have to be a memeber...they aren't public rates sorry

who is not allowed to be a MR Member?

IF the answer to the above is no one, It can be argued that there isn't anything barring anyone of legal age to be a MR member.

If anyone is allowed to be a member for free then how would this not be public? I fail to see the difference.

Bonus Bucks T&C:

"8. This coupon is void and will not be honored if sold for cash or other consideration or auctioned on the Internet"

This is a fairly common question regarding BB/SS/PP. The bottom line is that the T&C on the BB explicitly state that it can ONLY be used if you call the toll free number to make a reservation. My understanding is that the agents on the phone will only give you the "best available rate". Whether any individual property accepts them on any other rate is where the confusion lies, as many properties disregard the rules IN OUR FAVOR. As always, YMMV.

I recently used a $50 BB cert on an ebrakes rate during a weekend stay.
I made the reservation myself as I always do on the Marriott website, and used the MEB code. Front desk agent took the cert at checkin and there wasn't any problem.

From what I've heard it depends on the hotel and who you get at the front desk... some don't give any hassle while some do.

I believe this is the consensus of experience - inconsistent application of the rules. Some places you can get away with using the BBs on eBreaks rates, others you can not.

I think "get away with" is the proper term because, as socrates stated, these are not considered publicly available rates (and we can argue the "public"ness of them all day, but ultimately MI decides what is and isn't public).

Looks like someone already posted but yes the TOC on the back of the bonus bucks.

TrojanHorse Mar 25, 2008 11:56 am

I don't even believe its property specific, it is clerk specific and since the bulk of these clerks are clueless about BB in general, I can see where mistakes will also happen in the guests favor

I guess its always good to try to use a BB and hope to get away with using it on any rate.. just don't get upset if you don't get it and it wasn't an eligible rate.

New Bonus Bucks Promotion Coming?

Last year's BB promo, with qualifying Stay For Breakfast rates, started early May. If I'm not mistaken, it was to be booked with the OTP promo code. Is a similar promotion in the pipeline, and, if yes, will it run along similar dates as the one from last year?

imverge Mar 29, 2008 9:17 am

I haven't heard anything about a chain wide BB offer. You can check property specific offers here:

https://www.marriott.com/rewards/mem...ember-specials

I found several that do offer BB's
