you can use Premium Pounds or Bonus Bucks for the advanced reservation which normally 21 days in advance, this kind of advance reservation, unlike the advance purchased rate, is considered as a nomal reservation, and can be cancelled till the arrival day, however Premium pounds are very difficult to get as now, and I am looking for some

"Sorry, we're out of Bonus Bucks"

This past weekend I booked a night at the Marriott Rocky Hill (CT) on a Bonus Buck rate. At check-in, I was told to ask for the BB at check-out. At check-out, the front desk staff said that they were out of BBs; in fact were 'not even aware that we had any more BB rates coming in' and said they would have to mail one to me.

Now, I don't doubt that they will. But I have an upcoming stay in Chicago and I planned to use the BB there.

What has your experience been with the issuance of BBs that the property did not have on hand? Do they come from Corporate or from the hotel itself? And do I have a chance of getting the BB in hand before I go to Chicago in 3 weeks?

Is it worth my effort to call the Plat line to expedite things or should I just trust that the BB is forthcoming?

Thanks in advance.

Don't wait around for them to arrive in the mail...you'll be waiting a long time IMO. Call the property manager and ask for help in resolving the matter.

My past two stays w/Marriott on a BB promo have been the same..."we don't have them/the ones we have are expiring and we know that wouldn't do you any good in your travels" or "we don't give them out here/they will be mailed to you." Then the BB do not come (surprise). I have had to call/email both Marriott & the property managers both times...the first time they (finally) offered me two free night certs. or a $100 Marriott gift card instead of the Bonus Bucks. My most recent stay has offered to credit back $50 to my credit card because they don't know when the new batch of BB will arrive. I'm fine with both resolutions, but I don't understand why Marriott runs a promotion that none of the properties (from my experience) seem to be able to honor.

If it helps, from experience, this is a great Marriott so I believe they will follow through on their word - although it certainly doesn't hurt to go up the ladder...

I'd just say - let me not pay $100 on the bill and once I get the BB you can charge me then.

Or, take $100 of the bill right now.

Or, give me the BB.

I have had to say that a few times. Funny that they were able to "find" some BB's. I am not sure how the just "found" some, but they did.:D

I've had this happen...the hotel said "we're getting more in on Monday." By Wednesday, they were in my mailbox....

Hotels need to order them from corporate, they are not sent by corporate to individual guests but with all that said if the hotel was to order them today you'd have you're in plenty of time to use - I would just place a followup call to the hotel and let them know you had planned on using it within 3 weeks (I dont believe the Plat line will be able to assist you, however if you dont receive it in time I'd again call the hotel and ask them to contact the other hotel and explain the situation or contact customer service; I'd do the first item first and the 2nd only if the first doesn't work)

Last year I stayed at a UK Marriott on a rate which gave a Premium Pounds coupon. I was planning to use the coupon on another stay at another property a couple of weeks later. They hadn't got any in stock and said they would post them out. I asked if it would be possible to pick one up at check-in on my second stay and use it immediately. A phone call to the other property made this possible ^ and the remainder came in the mail ^^

I am having severe problems with getting these at checkout. I've been hotel hopping around the Courtyards on the East side of Manhattan (Upper East, East Side, and 5th Avenue hotels) using the E0G rate code (15% off + $50 BB).

The Upper East and East Side Courtyards keep telling me they will mail them as they don't have any left. As I was in too much of a hurry to get to work those mornings, I forgot to have them sign or do anything to verify I didn't get a BB at check-out. :(

Any advice on what to do? I will be staying at these 2 courtyards, so I probably will just take my previous folios and ask for them. Any additional advice appreciated.

Bonus Bucks Surprise

I recently completed a three night weekend stay at the Irvine Marriott. Rate included a $50 visa gift card, but no mention of bonus bucks. Two weeks after returning home, I received a hundred dollar bonus buck in the mail from what looks like a third party shipper. Given that I used a "free second night" cert, this makes my stay quite the bargain.

I wonder if Marriott is outsourcing the whole bonus buck distribution through a third party now?

I don't think so. I just received a $50 Bonus Buck for a stay this weekend from the hotel.

Just a quick update...

I did follow up with the hotel GM as suggested here. I got the feeling from that call that a nudge was definitely a good idea ;)

The hotel sent me two $25 Visa gift cards instead, stating that they were out of Bonus Bucks. (It was a $50 BB promo.)

All's well that ends well.

And yes, I agree that this is a really nice Marriott. I've stayed here many times and my husband has hosted several meetings here as well.

Thanks so much for the helpful replies here.

New rule on points for payment by Bonus Bucks?

I don't know whether I'm just the victim of folks who don't know what they're doing, or if the rules have changed.

For some reason, the last four stays (dating back to June) where I have used Bonus Bucks or Premium Pounds as partial payment have been credited to my account based only on the portion I paid by credit card. Example: Stayed at Courtyard 4 nights at $150 per night, total charge (other than tax) of $600. Used two $50 Bonus Bucks and paid the balance of $500 by credit card. Received Marriott Rewards points on only $500, not the full $600.

In the past, Bonus Bucks were counted "same as cash" for purposes of the "10 points per dollar" calculation. Has this changed, or were the folks who did the calculation simply ignorant of the proper way to account?

I'm getting tired of having to fax in the hotel folio with an explanation, and even then not seeing a correction post. What's the explanation?

It sounds like incorrect handling of the BB's to me, if I had to guess I'd say they were adjusting your room rate down to reflex the amount of the bonus buck which does 2 things: lowers the amount of points you receive and fails to reimburse the hotel for the redemption of the BB

Was this all at the same hotel?
