My answer...too long!
I was supposed to receive $50 BB for a recent stay in Landover, MD (5/11). When I asked for the BB at checkout, they gave me the runaround & then told me that Marriott would mail them to me. A few days after I got home, I received a $50 BB coupon (that expired in less than a month) from the hotel I'd stayed at in MD, not Marriott corp. I emailed Marriott.com customer service, who said that the rewards office would mail them out to me. Several weeks later, still nothing, so I emailed again. This time, the manager of the Landover hotel emailed me that he would see to it personally that the cert. was mailed out Monday via overnight DHL. The next Tuesday, still no cert. had arrived, so I emailed him again. He apologized for not keeping me in the loop...they only had expiring certs. on hand, had to order more and did not know how long it would take to receive them. So, he offered to send me 2 complimentary vouchers for Courtyard or a $100 Marriott gift card. As we usually stay at Courtyards for our short trips, I opted for the 2 vouchers. I think I made out better than a $50 BB in the long run, but it shouldn't be that hard to get something that they offer as part of your stay. I have two upcoming trips in July that are supposed to receive BB, so I'm really hoping the experience will be better next time. |
One month ago, I stayed at the Marriott LGA in NYC. I was supposed to receive a $50 BB coupon with the rate I had. When I checked out I was told I would be mailed them.
Two weeks later I called the hotel and was told the same thing. I called yesterday and left a voice mail for the Front Desk Manager. No response. This lack of service is frustrating. I am about to call Marriott customer service, but thought I'd start with the hotel. Any suggestions? |
Catonis...keep calling and email Marriott as well. It might take awhile, which is very unprofessional on Marriott's part, but you will get a response. You were offered the BB as part of the deal...you fulfilled your part, now Marriott should be taking care of their part. Good luck!

The update to my situation is that I called Marriott customer service, who said they'd call the hotel and the hotel in turn would contact me within a week.
In about 1 hour, a manager called from the hotel called, apologized, said he'd overnight the bonus bucks when they arrived at the hotel (he thought Thurs) and offered 10,000 MR points. I gladly accepted the points and am well satisfied there. Now I just need the bonus bucks to arrive. |
Dredging up an old thread rather than starting a new one: The Fairfield Inn at SJC had the audacity to not give me points for my BB usage this past week. Now I have to waste time sorting that out with customer service. Oh, and I also have to waste additional time faxing in two missing stay requests. A big :td: for this property's grasp of how the MR program works. The hotel itself, though, isn't too bad for a Fairfield.

I've used BBs at the FI SJC without a problem in the past (last October most recently, I think). Perhaps
1) you had a new and inexperienced front desk clerk, or 2) maybe the rules have changed on the latest BBs (somehow I don't think so, though). |
BB Usage
Did you read the back of the Bonus Buck? if it didnt say anything about not getting credit I would think that you would if it didnt say anything about not getting credit, have you called MR to see what they have to say?

I just tell them that I will be using BB's and if they insist that I hand them over immediately, I ask that they be posted immediately. (basically they are CASH and I want a receipt). If they post them as a cash pmt. you will get full points credit if they post them as a rebate you get partial credit for your stay.
My preference is to give them upon checking out, as I often get asked how many I have and often get to use more than 1 per 2 nights stay. ^ On that note, I always present them up front and request a receipt of the transaction. Again since I'm using PP's I'm looking for the exchange rate but in the end, the receipt is printed out as a cash payment which is also how it shows up on the final folio I've never had a problem using these and getting all my points and stay credits are you guys also not getting your stay credits? |
Bonus bucks usage didn't effect stays posting correctly. However, the stays frequently don't post correctly for me at the FI SJC. I print out a missing stay request after each stay in anticipation of having to fax it in 10 days later. So far, I'm batting better than Ted Williams.

I was supposed to receive 2 $50 bonus bucks certs.
Instead I received 6 $25 certs. I know that the total dollar value is more, but I'd be better off with the $50s because I won't use 6. Oh well. I guess I should just move on, but I wish that the hotel could do what it was supposed to. |
Please help confirm: Restrictions using Bonus Bucks and future reservation...
I have booked an Advanced Reservation for West Palm Beach Marriott located at 1001 Okeechobee Blv'd from 10/10 thru 10/12 for only $109 per night.
Here is my question: Is there any reason that I couldn't use a 100 Pound Bonus Bucks certificate for this reservation? That would pay for almost the entire stay and it just seems to good to be true. What am I missing? Or would I have to use a smaller denomination in bonus bucks? Thanks in advance... Anthony |
If the reservation is a pre-paid one then you wouldn't be able to use your Premium Pounds certificate. Otherwise, as long as it is a publicly available rate then yes you can.
|
Yup. Glen the Baker is absolutely correct. Advanced Purchase Rates are charged to your credit card within 24 hours after the reservation is made. No refunds. You CANNOT use Premium Pounds or Bonus Bucks to pay for the room.

Actually it is Advanced Reservation, not Advanced Purchase....
