Use of BB on LNF

This problem seems to be the same as that raised in a former stay at the Marriott Pattaya, however as I recall, in that thread the OP was fully supported by Marriott Customer Service and eventually got to use his BB's, thereby making their response totally inconsistent.
If you used a CC, have you thought about disputing the bill?

I am at full service Marriott property. The rate I received was discounted through the Look no Further department. The Look no further department, for the first time I know of for anyone, will not support that a LNF rate automatically qualifies as a rate type for use with bonus bucks (at a property type the BB are allowed for). I am now stuck with a Bonus Bucks expiring January 5 that I cannot use. I could have used this last week when I was going to pay rack rate at a FS Marriott if I had known this was going to be a problem with a LNF rate.

GrizShel -

Agree with iztok - this is odd. Even the strictest interpretations of BB guidelines allow for use on LNF, and I have done so.

You got in touch with the LNF res folks - what about Marriott CS; escalating if need be? Also the Marriott Concierge for FT?

You have a right to be ; this is not right -

I think part of the problem here is the OP did not contact customer service instead they contacted the LNF team....I would recommend contacting customer service to resolve the problem (or calling the GM on Monday)

Just not worth the hassle.

I am sooooooo tired of having to jump through hoops just because some FDR or junior manager does not fully understand T&C's of these promotions/benefits.And to have to read the fine print (that is changed often) is a real pain-but unfortunately a neccesery step in the redemption of these cert's/promos.

And then to have to explain the whole thing again to some CSR who may or may not know the T&C's.

I have had to contact Marriott so many times about these screwups amd other misteps poorly trained hotel personel have made.

I have pretty much let my EEO certs go unused this year because of the hassle involved-only used one in 2008.

Only once in three years did I have to contact Starwood CS-and the propblem was fixed in my favor before any investigation.

We are very fortunate to have access to three of the very best Marriott CSR concierges there are Ira,Drew, and Marie and I would suggest any FT's with problems like the above contact them-they have been wonderful to deal with.

I'm pleased to report that I did not have to go further up the ladder on this, the LNF did finally come through and talk the property into letting me use the Bonus Bucks. I was disappointed that the hotel did not see fit to call me and tell me that (but they accepted it with a smile today), but I must note than in other respects the property has been great to me (including a totally unsolicited upgrade to one of the largest suites I have ever had).

It seems to be a very common reaction among Guest Services reps to dig in their heels once they think they've identified something they should not let you do, it does no good to say anything contradictory to what they believe, even if you know from multiple sources or experiences that you are right (no matter that you've stayed at hundreds of Marriott properties over the last several years, you can't possibly be right and therefore they won't entertain the idea of doing further research on the matter). I do believe Marriott does a very good job overall of making sure the Property management companies keep up their standards and levels of service.

So, while the BB thing was much more hassle than it should have been, I think it was just because they were so sure they were right not because they hate me and want me to lose $100. :) I leave with some latent frustration over that, but I am no longer , I am now :) .

Exactly the same as my experience, and it was like going to the dentist to try to get our favorite Las Vegas property to let me use it there.

glad it worked out for you....but didn't this come up a few weeks ago ish?? another FTer had trouble and the Marriott Concierge said they can be used?? maybe i am not remembering....

now if i can just find someplace to blow my EEO next week since the FS i was in last night really ticked us off!! (alas, now here i am at a CY nearby and they gave me exactly what i needed here! bummer,....should have moved yesterday!) [and it's the 4th or maybe 5th place that recognized me as a PP! in a year!]

I have a copy of an email from the LNF desk stating categorically that BB/PP coupons CAN be used with LNF rates. If there is ever any question from the front desk, I show them the email and its all plain sailing. Thankfully, I've only experienced one or two minor niggles - nothing major.

Where Can I find a list of non-particpating hotels in Bonus Bucks?

Received the following message from Marriott Customer Care:

Bonus Bucks certificates are accepted at most Marriott properties;however, the following hotels do not accept Bonus Bucks: the J.W.Marriott Capri, the Rome Marriott Grand Hotel Flora, and the MilanMarriott Hotel.

Code(s) for Bonus Bucks

Hello,

Does anyone know if there is a different code for Bonus Bucks? I know that before it used to be M11; M11 is now called Marriott Rewards Offers. V12 used to be the promo where you used to pay by Visa and receive BBs.

I notice that BBs are not as available as they used to be. It's been a while since I been on these forums.

Please advise.

Marcell

If you mean the code for the promo where you earn BBs, it varies. Sometimes it's the Stay for Breakfast (S4B) code, but not all S4B promos offer Bonus Bucks. Another one was OTP, if I recall correctly, but again not all OTPs gave BBs.

You might just check by entering PKG and see if anything comes up. I've been pleasantly surprised by some of the packages I've found.

End of Premium Pounds?

I was told by a friend in England that Marriott has stopped issuing Premium Pounds certificates as of December, 2008. Anyone know anything about this?
Thanks.

I did hear a rumour about this, but nothing official. Strangely there are two bonus offers for Plats currently that I can see, one in the UK and one in Canada, that offer Bonus Bucks instead of anything in local currency.

I'm on the mailing list for a company that sells Bonus Bucks for company incentives. According to this firm, Marriott discontinued printing Premium Pounds in November. The last expiration date is in early April.

i have seen later exp dates than April 2009.

Could it be that they wont be made available to any 3rd parties and only available via a Marriott stay??

kanerf Jan 14, 2009 10:31 pm

I have severall PPs with a June expiration date myself.
