Thanks Sophiegirl...that's what we're going to do..use the $100 for this since it's a FS Marriott. I think my biggest concern is whether or not they'll give me the right amount of points for my stay as you mentioned they should.

Good tip on the receipt too! I'll make sure to get one at checkin.

Thanks all!

Keep the receipt and the check out folio. Most hotels are good at posting the right points. But some of them miss and you can call or email Marriott rewards with the folio and get the points fixed.

I had to do this for a couple of stays from last week. One rep even emailed back saying I don't get points for the cert , I emailed him back saying I always get points for the coupons and certs and he confirmed with his supervisor, apologized and added my points.

Thanks Damon2...I'll keep that in mind as well!

Since it's a multiple day say and you're giving them the BB at check-in, the following day you might try the "review bill" (or words to that effect) option on the TV menu..

What yhou whould see is a posting for "-!00.00" or $100.00CR" or something similar as the very first entry.

The nomenclature may certainly be veriable but still synonymous with the above as a "deposit" or "payment on account".

If that first entry for the Room Charge is $100.00 less than it should be you'll know you've got to bring it to their attention.

The key phrase is "the following day." The certificates post in real time but for some reason they are not (usually) viewable in one's account until after a debit (e.g., a room charge) is posted.

I've only tested it myself twice (two different FS's) and one for sure, but possibly both were sometime during the second day.

I also recall (in the midst of getting a typical EEO snafu worked out) that some FD employee (who might well have been inexperienced told me that all the day's charges are posted to individual accounts by the night audiotor.

How else could they produce a bill that's current as to the last update (but not "final-final" (checkout day charges such as breakfast in the restaurant charged to room)/

Main point ix that it's certainly easy enough to try it and see inasmuch as if I'm correct she'd have a jump-start at resolving the issue well before checkout. And if there's need for correction also giving the property an opportunity to work on it prior to the time the guest wants to (or has to) be on their way.

Depending on the hotel and the level of training of the front desk personnel, you will have ease of use with Bonus Bucks, or not. Taking that another step out, you will also possibly be able to use more than one Bonus Buck, whether you are allowed to, or not, per T&C, during that same stay, no matter the length of the stay, depending on the training, and friendliness of whoever is at the desk at the time. The actual rule is that you MUST turn in the BB at time of check in for a two day or longer stay, AND, the FD staff member who checks you in MUST then give you a folio indicating receipt of that BB, simply indicating the dollar amount of what they have applied to your account. That receipt SHOULD NOT say "Bonus Buck received $100," and it SHOULD NOT say "Cash received $100" either. It should simply say "$100 credit received and applied to account" or words very similar. I have also seen "$100 check recieved as credit and applied to account," as if they received a travelers check. That would also seem to be acceptable. About 50% of the time, the front desk staff does not know what I am referring to at all, OR, if they do, they do not know how to process it and need to call a manager or supervisor for assistance.

The same is true upon checking out when a BB is due to me as part of my rate. I was in total shock on Saturday, after a two day stay at a Courtyard in the Washington, DC area, when not only did the front desk staff know what I was there to pick up, but they also, very professionally had a BB log book for me to sign, indicating that I had received the BB. For all the times that I have ever received a BB, that was the very first time that I have ever been asked to sign for what I received. I was impressed! I can't tell you how many times I have gotten a quizical look with a "what's that?"

One additional word to the wise here, when you are entitled to a BB on checking out, examine the expiration date CAREFULLY! In the last two months, two different hotels have offered me BB's with expiration dates of less than 30 days and less than 45 days out, respectively. In both cases, I declined. Both hotels apologized and indicated that they have up to date BB's on order, but they are slow to arrive. Both asked about mailing to me, and I agreed. The first one sent it out to me within one week, and I had it before ten days had passed. The second one (I stayed there 5/10/2008) had many $25 BB's with good expirations, but all of their $50 BB's would expire in June, which I did not want, so they said they would mail me one $50 ASAP. I am sure it will arrive shortly. Since the rules for $25, $50, & $100 BB are all the same, the $25 BB would be a pain to use, I would have to stay four days to use up the same $50 that I could use in two days with one $50 BB. Just a word to the wise!

Update on my BB situation...

1) Received an email back from Marriott Customer Care this afternoon that stated my BB would be mailed out to me (from Marriott...not the hotel itself).

2) Opened up my mailbox and found an envelope from Courtyard Marriott. It was from the hotel I stayed at and it included a copy of my bill and a BB certificate inside. The BB expire 6/9/08...less than one month from now.

I'll give it a few days for the correct certificate to arrive from Marriott before I start calling.

It appears under both S4B and OTP codes ^

The weekend part seems like a new restriction. Anybody know if the "dollar amounts" are the same, i.e. $100 at a full service property?

If I remember correctly. the VISA BB promo always issued BB's that were only good on weekends. The $100 FS has always been there for any type of BB redemption.

The Visa BBs in 2006 and 2007 at least could be used any day of the week.

Most properties only offered the OTP rate on weekends though (for earning Visa BB).

I'm not certain that any sweeping bonus buck promotion has been announced. I tried the suggested codes at the Sea-Tac Marriott and couldn't come up with a rate promising anything that sounded like a bonus buck - did find one weekend day in July that came up with a "gas break" rate that included a Chevron $25 gift card. I could only find that particular promotion on one specific date. Hope that a bonus buck promotion does get announced soon, though.

Check the rates on that gas card promo-when I entered it for Palm Springs the rate was $25 higher than the BAR

2007 BB were for the weekend

I got 12 BB from last year's Visa BB promotion and they were all Weekend BB only.
