Geico Privileges claims to be out of certs at the present time, and anticipates receiving new certificates soon to fulfill orders that have already been accepted.

Or so they say. I am still waiting for my certs from Jan 4th....supposedly, two sets were lost in the mail (yes, they do have my correct address), the reorder was supposed to have arrived at Geico Privileges offices on Monday (it didn't), and my certs were to be mailed UPS Express to my house (hah).

I was told that the new certs will still have the July expiration date.

I'm close to disputing this charge with my CC co.....but haven't as I'd really like the certs.

(I won't even go into the 4 unanswered emails, 3 unanswered messages left, and blatant LIES told to me by Geico Privileges employees.)

Oh an update incase anyone is interested... I had no problem using the $50 BB cert along with my ebrakes rate. When I got the express checkout statement under the door in the morning, it wasn't taken off but I went to the desk to checkout and said I gave a BB cert they said 'oops' and took off the 50 bucks.

I think these BBs are a YMMV type of deal. The hotel I stay at is letting me use them on our corporate rate (about half the website rate) without problem. They also let me use 2 when I stay 3 nights!

I know this could all change at any time.

UGHH. I should have ordered more!

I only did 9 my last time as anything over $200 requires a signature. :(

The program is real, but SLOW, so stick with it!

I checked in to the Marriott Hunt Valley Inn (just outside of Baltimore) two days ago and used one of the five certs that I received from Geico Privileges without a glitch (Except for the front desk trainee who had never seen one before! However, her front desk manager and I walked her through it. When my check out bill passed under my door while I was sleeping this morning, it was correct.) It took over one month for my certs to arrive, even though they were advertised to arrive in about one quarter that time. In the end, the deal seems quite legitimate, but the clerical execution......not so much! So, FWIW to those here who have been waiting and waiting, I would say that the certs will arrive eventually, and will be worth the wait. After all, where else can anyone legitimately get an 80% discount off of anything nowadays? I hope that when Geico gets a new supply of these coupons they will make them available again on the Geico Privileges site, because I am sure that I will want to buy more! Oh, and one important detail not to be overlooked, my certs all have a September 2008 expiration date.

Now, for a question for BB devotees here.....can anyone here answer whether it is permitted within Marriott rules, and BB T&C for someone who has a BB to redeem that BB on a weekend BB M12 earning rate? Meaning, is it possible to redeem a BB and earn a BB on the same stay? Thanks!

The answer would be a no go.

M12 is a Marriott Rewards Member rate, so it's not a "publicly avail" rate to the general public.

We'll see if they return. But if Marriott and Geico sell bonus bucks for $20 openly, I no longer have any compunction about buying bonus bucks off ebay or the like. Marriott still is still making money off of cheap .......s like myself because most cases I would not stay in a FS Marriott on personal travel. without some kind of coupon. As long as not full price price paying customers are displaced.....

A $100BB costs Geico $12 from Marriott. So they are making $8 profit on each.

They went to $15 1/1/08. They were $10 each before that. Do you think or know that Geico is paying $12? 100 Premium Pounds are only $29.50, I wish they were selling those!!

How did you all find this information out? What is the source of the information?

It's hardly worth talking about the difference of selling Premium Pounds for $29.50 each and selling them for £15, because according to the current converstion rates, £15 = $29.80 (see below).

Does anyone happen to know if any large company or organization can purchase Bonus Bucks and Premium Pounds from Marriott just as Geico has, for either resale or for company incentives, etc.? Also, what are the restrictions on how many a company may purchase and how the certificates may be sold or distributed?

Company = Yes
Organization = Probably

The hitch is that they are not supposed to be for resale, that's why I posted early in this thread that I was suprised that Geico was doing this and that Marriott was letting them.

The restriction, at least in my case, was you have to buy a minimum of 200 at a time. BUT this order could include: Bonus Bucks, Premium Pounds, 2 for 1 Golf, 2 for 1 Dinner, Spa discounts, the Euro equivalent for the Bonus Bucks, etc. There are a few other options besides the ones I listed. So, hitting the 200 mark is easy when factoring in the options and the variable expiration dates.

Also, the costs I listed were for coupons with 8 month expirations. Ones that have longer expirations are more $$.

You have to apply with Marriott to buy these with a one page form outlining what you will be using these for. Promotional giveaways, company/employee incentves, or something like that. There is a link on the Marriott site which will get you to the incentive area, but you will have to contact them for prices. To my knowledge, nothing is listed on their site.

O, and they frown on buying Premium Pounds if you are US based, but I doubt you'll be told NO.
