I bought Vanilla Gift Cards (Sutton) from "Your Choice Gift Card" that I got from Topcashsback gift cards. It was a roundabout method, and it took me 3 trips to WalMart, but it was relatively easy. I successfully liquidated $2500 worth of those Vanilla gift cards -> Discover at walmart. Overall profit was around $750 after all was said and done.
Lesson learned by them. |

I hope the Paypal deal comes back again, but I doubt it will given how quickly Paypal shut it down.

5 back and Everywhere VGCs
I have been looking for 5 back and Everywhere VGCs but didn’t find them in grocery stores or CVS/Walgreens. Wondering where these flavors of VGCs are available?

So I've never done this before, but I've read a lot of the discussion so I think I understand the process. I just wanted to confirm before going out for the trek
1] I have a Discover Cashback Debit card, which appears to be the correct account type for this. 2] I bought 2x $1250 "Your Choice Gift Card" from topcashback to take advantage of the Paypal 20% promos. With those, I bought 5x $500 Vanilla Gift cards. I got this gift cards in the mail, they were sent by InComm and are BIN 411810. 3] All I have to do is go the Money Center counter, tell them I want to load my Discover Checking Account, tap the cart to the terminal, and then tell them I want to load $500 (repeat a second time for 2x a day), then swipe my card, and it should work? Anything I'm missing? Thanks in advance! Did you see that the 2.35% CB tracked on the "Your Gift Choice" gift cards? |

Walmart is not short $600.
Walmart was merely the transfering agent between the issuer of the gift card and Discover Bank. The gift card(s) have the value. It also has NOTHING to do with the employee. The employee was told by the IT system that the transaction did not go through. The error slip that printed out said so. That is a fact. That employee did nothing wrong. They followed the procedure. For some reason the IT system glitched. Discover/CapitalOne should try to figure why the system glitched. They likely know what happened, but they certainly aren't going to tell us. You may be correct that this glitch which we are not responsible for brought eyes to what we are doing. If so, it is what it is. It is not as if we deliberately did this to gain the "bonus". WM is responsible for the money since it is tended to them. When you swipe your card at a WM terminal, it isn't Discover that takes the funds, it's WM, WM is then responsible for making certain that the money is transferred to Discover via whatever bank they work through, and WM is a bank. How do you think Discover recognized the error?? When they asked WM to transmit the funds, they weren't there. WM then had to work backwards to see that the funds were never off loaded from the GC. That is problem #1. When WM let Discover know that there were no funds covering that deposit, Discover then went back to find out why they (Discover) had let the transaction go through, which is where they found the glitch was on their end. Realizing that WM wasn't responsible for the error in communication, they ate the loss, but they certainly know who created that loss (problem #2) That means that two very big companies...Cap1 (Discover) and WM now have SioFW on their radar as having pocketed $600. I will be very interested to know if he/she can still us WM to make Discover deposits with GCs. That DP would certainly be helpful is monitoring just how closely both companies watch what is going on with us. |

For my future reference, when purchasing these vanilla visa's from TCP, what is the charge for the $500 card and what was shipping?

Capital One ate the cost of this. They may well decide it was worth it it. That $600 paid out is no matter what is written off as the cost of doing business. They are issuing a 1099-MISC. No different from them paying a sign-on bonus for someone opening an account or depositing new money into an existing account. Will Capital One stop a "nice" deposit stream that YOU and other MSers have provided since December 5, 2022 ? My guess is no. |

I doubt it. If that were the case they would have asked for the money back when they sent the letter.
More likely, and way worse would be that problems like this make C1 decide the Disco Cashback product is not something they want to continue with Even when withdrawn quickly it is still a lot of money that is being floated. |
