Nothing to do with the cashiers wanting to "provide customer service" or not.
Everything to do with management edict.

You ought to know better.

This is so fascinating because at first I might assume you live in the worst place ever (New York?), but I'm beginning to think maybe how you interact with everyone on this forum is how you interact in real life. Anyways, I want you to know that I don't even have to say anything at my stores, they already know what I want and what amount, I just say "hey (name), how ya doin?" and we have a nice chat. Try it sometime.

Thought I would add today's DP for loading at the cashier.

No issues loading One card for $200 (full amount) using SE card purchased at OM

The system now is simpler to use at the cashier. Instructions are in English as well as task specific (loading a card, etc.) . No number code needed, so the cashier doesn't have to memorize a string of instructions coded numerically.
If there were an error, it was pointed out in English. So my One card wasn't properly read, initially, and we had to swipe it instead of insert the chip. The display asked for the alternative insertion instructions.

I cannot testify to multiple swipes...I don't do them. I consider that a tell.

But in the end, all is good if you can use a cashier. And to address that point. It appears to me that permission to load at a cashier is driven by the store management. Sadly, that means that if you have a store that insists on making you go to the CSC, then there is little you can do about it, other than shop around and see if you can find a WM that permits cashier loading.

And a hint to all. Not all cashiers are located at the front of the store ;)

While this is a valuable DP, the issues people are running into is loading discover specifically

I have a Pathward issued MCGC, servicer is Incomm and BIN is 52536210. This card doesn't work to pay a utility bill (Speedpay), get a 'Declined - Security Policy' in the transaction history. I'm wondering what variable is key here or if there are DPs available around what works? E.g. if I use a Sutton MCGC, also Incomm, is that likely to not work with Speedpay either? Do VGCs have better acceptance? Interestingly, this card doesn't work for Speedpay gas bill, but does work for Speedpay electric (different providers).

This helped me when my card wouldn't work online. It didn't work everywhere though.https://www.reddit.com/r/CreditCards...lling_address/

Wow thanks, appreciate the tip. Though in this particular case it won't help me because there is nowhere for me to enter a billing address when I go to pay the gas bill on Speedpay.

Received a call from Discover inquiring about my loading history over the last few months. I believe it was around this time last year when I got the same type of call from them. Told them I buy things at estate sales and sell/flip them on FB marketplace and load the money at Walmart. They didn't ask any hard questions or make any accusations, and were very pleasant. Call took less than 8 minutes. I'm actually doing far less loading these days than years past so I'm not worried.
