Help me help them help me
My Local WMs are not having great success with split tender transactions. Monday did Disc load 198 over two 99 VGC swipes (pathward/BHN 435880) - BUA.
Today I went in the morning and the guy was able to use code 70, inserted Disc card and entered zip, but then the register was prompting for 198 instead of 99, i told him this and he said go ahead and it failed, of course. Manager override, etc. Then tried again w same result. He showed me his screen with two big buttons of "Exact amount" and "Enter amount" and tried to explain how he was doing it, but he was not able to get it going. Gave up to avoid manager scrutiny. Anybody got a script that they use w cashiers to help them correctly split payments over multiple cards? Thanks! |

After going through the load buttons, and you press "confirm" on the total load amount, ask them to split payment, first swipe being $99. For example, after you press "confirm" and ask the cashier, the cashier will enter $99.00 on their keypad, and then press "card" under enter amount on their screen. |

Probably operator error. The sketchier the walmart the more they are capable of splitting transactions.

Anyone have recent experience with Kroger VGC or MC for Discover load? They are Pathward BHN I believe.
As for BHN, $99 per swipe is all you gonna get. Try it out, I want to see recent DP. I doubt anything has changed. lol |

I stop buying those loooong time ago. They block them at walmart. You have to actually get a decline, then call them to override it so you can use it at walmart. Sometimes it takes two decline and phone call. HUGE PITA. This was when it was issued by USB.

the Pathward BHN work great at Kroger service desk for MO. But it’s a max $480 swipe or so (so $479 MO). If you are burning the extra $20 somewhere easy like Amazon (or even Kroger which will auto drain) then more power to you.

Warning to everyone here WM apparently has "new software" that they are rolling out for their registers which doesn't allow for discover reloads with a cashier (or the cashiers havent found out how to do it on the new software yet). So i was forced to go to the Money center and do a measly $99 swipe.... Just a heads up for those who like to do full $200 swipes with the cashier.

For me, it was Serve that was the issue. Unable to load at the cashier at all, but interestingly, my One card was unaffected. And it is a new system, because the 70 code is not needed at the cashier any longer for loading, while it is still used at the MC and CSC. And it is staff experience as well. Several of my usual cashiers (they have been there forever) were unable to load and needed a trainer/supervisor to help them with the new system. But we were able to load at the cashier the full $200 GC onto my One card. So thanks for the confirmation DP. |

I have never ever been successful in convincing a cashier to do a load for me. Always getting redirected to MC. Have tried several different WMs, all the same. I guess it's just my region :(
The cashiers around here don't even handle gift card purchases anymore. That started early 2025. |

I have been dealing with this for about a month at my WM cashier, and have posted several times about it.

Yeah usually they don't I would purposely go during the times i know the lines at the money center would be long and then tell the cashier " I tried but look at that line i have to go to work and as long as the transaction isn't over $200 they said i could do it here." this actually worked a lot more than i thought it would. RIP to my full swipes |
