Anyone know if MC GCs can load close to $500 (or max amount if any) on Discover or One Pay? I've had no problem with $499 loads for MO and Ally but haven't yet tried these Pathward/Incomm cards for Discover or One Pay. BIN starts with 52536240. Discover was getting a little squirrely with 3 x $99 swipe loads on BNH Staples cards.

What issue you faced for 3x$99 load on Discover? Did you load in one transaction using split payment or three separate transactions for 3 swipes?

Yeah, one transaction. Worked fine for a while and then it started declining on the 3rd swipe. 2 swipes works but I try to get at least $300 out of each transaction. Would love to be able to do $499 swipes or even 2 swipes of $499 on Discovery and One Pay.

yes, I tried mc gcs to load on discover in full $500 and it worked. However, I got an “unirthorized” once when I tried to load using $500 vgc. I don’t know maybe was location dependent or not.

I haven't done $499, but $495 instead (use the other $5 to load to Amazon GC).
The Secure Spend MCGC issued by Pathward, serviced by Incomm works fine for me.

Well I was wrong. My p1 card is fine but my p2 card is blocked by WM. Tried a $95 load today with VGC and it was declined. Tried regular bank local debit card and also declined. Tried $2 purchase at WM SCO and declined again. Went to 7-11 and made a $2 purchase successfully. Guess I’ll get a replacement card with a new number and see if that works.

I can confirm the SS MCGC work great for full swipes of $500 for OnePay. I can’t speak for Discover but glad to hear this works for you—I can’t fathom why $500 wouldn’t work if it works for Discover.

On another note, I got a “tender not accepted” today trying to use a Secure Spend Visa to load $500 to Discover. Not sure if it was a temporary error, it just worked yesterday for me.

Tried to add money to my Discover account at Walmart MC today. Was told I had two options: a) same day availability for a $10 fee; b) next business day for $1.50. I thought there was no fee to add?

Is this the first time you've done this? Walk us through the whole thing

Yes first time. Told person at MC I wanted to add money to my Discover account. Was asked to insert Discover card. Tried a couple of times and nothing happened, screen stuck at 'Please Wait.' Then they said because this was the first time they needed my ID and phone number. After providing that, they asked me again if it was Discover I wanted to add to. I said yes, and was then presented the two options. Did not get to the insert card stage, just walked away as I thought there shouldn't be any fee. I was planning a test load using my other Debit card just to see how things worked.

do you have the contactless debit card? When loading at WM was introduced, you were told to request a new contactless debit card (despite that feature not even being used, and WM not having tap to pay terminals, but yeah...). When you approach customer service, you just have to say "load money to my card". There should be no ID or phone. There are other ways they load, like to Ally with a barcode that has them request ID/phone. I've had clerks that would still key in the wrong thing and it would give me a fee on the load (not $10 or $1.50 tho), there is certainly a chance that the clerk doesn't know what to do either.

Just checked, no it's just a regular debit card. I'll call and request contactless. Thank you for taking the time to respond. Will try again later.

I insert my Discover checking debit card when doing Discover loads.
My debit card is contactless.

I believe you are being offered options for funds availability....either immediate or within one day. I suspect the standard is regulated by the Feds and is two days for usual deposits.

Standard should not cost you anything.

That being said, WM is free to impose its own fees on Discover deposits. We will have to wait and see if there are more DPs out there in regards to this. There certainly hasn't been any mention of imposition of fees on deposits at WM..

Funds are normally available immediately with Discover loads. Customer service rep pressed the wrong button/....ed up. Nothing more.
