Only in a roundabout way.
Find a store that will let you use Apple Pay (or whatever Google uses), load the TopCash Back eVGC into the wallet. Go to the store, buy a SS VGC or MCGC with your wallet (do a split payment if you need to save on the activation fees), THEN use the newly obtained physical card to load onto Discover (keeping in mind any activation time limits of the newly purchased cards)

If I end up with a eVGC I use it to pay utility bills or medical bills. Anything else is too much hassle

I agree for the most part. Here’s why:

I bought one of the eVGC. Added to Apple Pay. Ran around to multiple different money centers trying to get a MO with tap to pay, and none worked. Even an online tax payment and prepayment of my energy bills wasn’t working. I assumed I fraud locked the card. Finally I went to Meijer, who has a $10 off VGC sale (their VGCs aren’t any good—usually Sunrise bank, sometimes BHN Pathward). Was able to charge $496.95 to the eVGC successfully. Now with a new physical in hand, I was able to prepay some bills.

Not worth the hassle for me. Just buy physicals to begin with.

Medical bills and health insurance premiums are pretty much the only certain ways to use an eVGC.

Some eVGC can be added to Google Wallet; some can't.

So I've never done this before, but I've read a lot of the discussion so I think I understand the process. I just wanted to confirm before going out for the trek

1] I have a Discover Cashback Debit card, which appears to be the correct account type for this.
2] I bought 2x $1250 "Your Choice Gift Card" from topcashback to take advantage of the Paypal 20% promos. With those, I bought 5x $500 Vanilla Gift cards. I got this gift cards in the mail, they were sent by InComm and are BIN 411810.
3] All I have to do is go the Money Center counter, tell them I want to load my Discover Checking Account, tap the cart to the terminal, and then tell them I want to load $500 (repeat a second time for 2x a day), then swipe my card, and it should work? Anything I'm missing? Thanks in advance!

Was your purchase of $2500 in VGC’s sent via USPS or FedEx? I made a single $500 and it is coming via USPS with a 10-15 day anticipated delivery.

Pretty sure the first package was Fedex, but I had an issue with two of the cards, and the replacements were sent USPS with no tracking number... not exactly secure!

Does anyone know if the store bought 500 vanilla VGC can be used to load the discover card? I can use vanillagift.com for full 500 load. I can use store bought VGC for 498. But not sure if I can use store bought VGC for 500 before they lock the card out. Both cards require you to call in to activate the card , so there is some security built in. Unlike before where the store bought card could be used after an hour so.

They can load at 100%, but are not as reliable. IME, the odds of success are increased if you activate at least one day before trying to load
I often keep a .com card in my wallet as a back-up in case the store card fails

Which credit card gives you more than 1% at vanillagift.com?

Right.
I was thinking there was a credit card that was giving more than 2% straight up that I was missing.
BofA gives 1% not 3% for gift card websites --- at least that is what my Customized Cash Rewards card does.

Denied

Both P1 and P2 loads are getting denied the past few days. Both cards have similar activity, no loads past 24 hours, three or less loads last 7 days, 12 or less loads past 30 days, about $8500 total each loaded past 30 days. Cards I’m paying with go through fine and then denial slip prints out. Cards show $470 or whatever approved then refunded. Anyone experiencing similar?

Actually most recent shows card declined Walmart security policy. Hmmmm. This was an SS card but I’ve had similar with Sutton’s and Vanilla’s as well.

So looks like less than full amount may be a prudent thing for store bought cards. Hate to get into the hassle of replacing the $500 card vs the pain of draining $2
I love your terminology of .com card.

Just loaded a $500 Sutton/Incomm without any issues to Discover (+ $200 GE Visa to OnePay). Might be a local WM issue (although call authorizer usually means blocked by Discover, not WM)? Or your accounts flagged by Discover, or even a (long) temporary glitch? Have you tried loading with cash (e.g., ~$20) to see if it goes through to see if the account is doing ok?
