Just loaded 2 cards using Staples MC 5113 32 with no issues. Did 4 swipes of $99.00 each and then bought lunch with the $2.00 remaining on each card. I have not tried 4 swipes in aged as I was just programmed to do 3 LOL. No line today, friendly cashier, and it worked.

Which cards can you use for $500 loads? $500 with a single card?

Is it just the ODOM MCs that you can swipe for full $200? Or ODOM VGCs as well?

Just out of curiosity, which part of the US are you in?

I tried a vanilla VGC (500) + BHN 5back (200). Ended up just cancelling and only doing the 500. Later i used the 200 with a OD MC (200). I haven't been able to do 500+ loads yet in any of my Walmarts. I can also swipe OD 5backs for full $200. Those give me less errors. I haven't tried the silver VGCs in a bit. I'm in Oregon.

FYI - tried a $200 discover load today with a $200 Staples BHN MC. Declined. Tried a 2nd (different) card even. Declined. Finally I just paid with a legit debit card so as not to burn this WM location for future MS. This must be location dependent. $200 loads with BHN cards from Staples/ODOM (they're exactly the same cards in my area - socal) will not work for any amount above $99.

The MCs do give me error codes 01 and 05 sometimes. But usually work after a second try. I usually swap to a different card first, then back to the original that declined.
E.g. my last time i did Card1 which declined, then did Card2 which successfully used $200, then did Card1 again which was successful for another $200.

If a card fails twice, then i just use a legit debit. Then try again with the same failed card a few days later. Sometimes it then works for $200. If it fails again just once, then i pair it with another failure to use later for a $500 vanilla purchase. Id do it with 3 failed cards, but WM doesn't seem to let me pay with 3 GC at SCO. So i do 2+$100 on Amex Gold (NHM counts as ×4).

Although not loading Discover, I thought I would add my recent DPs for using various VGCs for loading Serve and One (since most of the discussion seems to be occurring here).
No issues using GE cards at both the cashier and CS center for full $200 loads to both above cards. These are the $200 ones obtained at OD/OM.
I suspect that there should not be any issue loading Discover with these as well.

I second this. I have also never had issues with full $200 swipe for GE or 5back at any WM for loading Discover (or One). Subject to velocity limits of course. Also, once I know if a DE or SE works in a WM, it is consistently working full swipe there similar to GE and 5back.

Your WMs are very lenient. I can't even buy gift cards at the cashier.
They direct me to the CS counter.

I thought the 3 swipe rule was hard coded at all Walmart. How could your 4 swipes work? Or maybe the rule was 3 gift cards not 3 swipes??

I believe it's WM dependent (actually POS dependent). I know a WM where you can only swipe one GC before hitting velocity. In most places though 4 swipes is the max I have seen on a single transaction, which includes the card you're loading (unless you use a barcode, like OnePay). Otherwise, I know several WMs that you can do four GCs on two transactions (e.g., two for Discover and two for OnePay, back to back)—never tried 5 GCs before.

I believe its four swipes per transaction, but most Incomm cards have a three swipe limit per five minutes or so. And swiping the card you are loading used to count as the first swipe but not sure if that still applies now that they have chips and you can load with barcode.

One of my Walmarts has a lead that encourages me to go to the cashier. Most NHMs here are short staffed, so the CS worker is usually elsewhere and has to come back for anyone waiting at the MC. I used to prefer the cashier when MC only allowed me to swipe BHNs for $99. But now either is fine for me.

I tried loading $1000 at my local walmart with the paypal debit card. $1000 approved then refunded immediately, also tried $999, $200..all approved but refunded right away. I did still see the 5000 points on paypal, but just wonder if anyone else has seen this.

I tried using my paypal debit card to load $1000/$500/$200 to my discover. They were all approved then instantaneous refunded. Anyone has a similar experiences?

Any reason why you are doing this?

You don't want to ACH transfer between the two banks?

This happened to me several months ago. Got the points too but didn't keep doing it, was scared paypal would shut me down

Successful load today! First time with PW Vani.
  • WM Customer Service
  • $80
  • not full drain
  • from PW Vani 4097
  • to Discover
  • Discover prompted for zip, Vani prompted for PIN.
It's been so long since I used a Vani, I forgot how the PIN works. So I just set it right before my load. Also bought some bananas in the same WM right before (hadn't used the Vani up to that point).

My WM doesn't have SS anymore (booo!) so I have to get comfortable with these now. Also checking other WMs, will report back.

Got my Serve cards shut down so going with the Discover route for GC loading. Is it the same code for the money centers to load money? Action Code 70?
