I tried to set up my student loan payment today. It's a bit tricky to figure out what biller to choose. I sent them a note for clarification. I have Edfinancial services, which shows up under an "auto loan" classification. We'll see what happens.

Welcome to flyertalk. I really don't know what Capital One will do, but my best guess is that they would consider it a principal payment rather than applying it to next month's bill. I don't see any harm in trying, and you can probably call and fix it if they don't apply your payment the way you wanted.
Thankfully may payments processed through before they were removed. Has anyone else noticed Capital One being removed? |

If the payments are processed manually due to being a small lender, it's likely your lender will call you and tell you to quit it (send 1x1000 instead of the 5x200 that we prefer). Otherwise they may just return your payments and you'll have nothing to show for choosing this lender.
After all, money is money...it's better than NOT getting paid and having to write off the debt. |
Isn't there something about "legal tender for all debts"?
I pay my mortgage in pennies, now that I can't get dollar coins. |
My mortgage is with BB&T, but Evolve only shows "BB&T Consumer Loans" as a biller option (as a point of reference, ChargeSmart lists BB&T Mortgage and BB&T Consumer Loans as different payees so I am pretty sure the Evolve entry is not simply a catch-all).
Has anyone attempted to make a mortgage payment through a different classification with the same biller? I would think the account numbers are unique and that the payee would figure out where to apply the money, but you never know. |

And don't you also need your payment to be due, i.e. too early it will not work

Money is money. Sure, it may be extra step for the lender, but I don't think they would call up their customer (YOU), and say, will you QUIT sending small denominations?

Its worked for me paying before the actual due date but all arriving the same day. If it arrives on different days, it doesn't get applied properly. Do you know if this is the case after the due date? For instance, next month's payment is due 6/1, but late charges don't apply until 6/15. Can I have it arrive on separate days after 6/1 and have it applied properly? This is for WF mortgage over $3k.

Wrong terminology, he is not talking about the due date, as in the day the payment has to be in by. He is talking about the day the statement is cut to say that your mortgage payment is due by such and such a date. If your mortgage is due on say... 6/1, this date is typcially 5/1. So if you pay on say, 5/15, your new due date will be 7/1, but you wont be able to start making that payment until 6/1. I would not try making payments between when its due and when the late charge is, thats just playing with fire. The answer is to have it all arrive on the same day so it applies correctly without intervention.

Another WF data point: I paid my WF bill over 3 days this month (Friday - Saturday - Sunday). It applied correctly.
I did have to call last month, but my timing was off, since I had first sent a test payment to make sure it went through. |
Not sure if this is of interest to anyone but I have my car loan with Wells Fargo Dealer services which is a different division to Wells Fargo Auto Loan.
Evolve only has Wells Fargo Auto Loan and not Dealer services. I tested out a payment to Wells Auto Loan using my account number and it went through fine. Im fairly new to using Evolve and I would like to pay my Mortgage. Ive read through most of the thread and I saw some points about Barclays shutting down Arrival accounts for using Evolve. Is that in fact true? I have used some Visa gift cards on Evolve but I dont have the time to dedicate to continuously buying them in $500 increments. My Arrival card is one of my main everyday cards and I dont want get it shut down. |
Just my opinion here, but I think it is far more likely that Evolve will either eliminate the CC option or institute a fee for the service before Barclays shuts you down. Either way, getting comfortable sourcing GCs is probably worth your effort.

Chase mortgage
My experience with Chase: I hadn't read the weekend-timing-to-consolidate-payments posts yet, and it worked out for me anyway.
First off, my mortgage servicing paperwork just says "Chase". Not JPMorgan Chase, etc. Given how poor the Evolve search engine is, that had me a bit tentative as well. (Short version: it worked.) My total mortgage payment is $1,7xx.yy; my due date is the 1st; I'm on autopay from my checking.
Note, FWIW, that I didn't contact anybody before, during, or after -- not Chase, not Evolve. It all just worked. Mortgage, water, power, and gym are the four monthly bills I have that won't directly bill credit cards; the first three are on Evolve, and I've sent them the gym's info -- if this works out (to include the billers correctly not pulling an autopay on the due date) I'll keep doing it. |
