You're not going to cycle money with Evolve. It's strictly a way you can pay bills with CCs, in a round about way, that you normally would have to use check or debit to pay. I suppose if you really wanted to, you could get a HELOC, write yourself a check, buy GCs with your CC, pay the CC bill with your check, then pay the HELOC with your GCs. Not sure if it would be worth the effort.

Those of us with Ink cards that get 5x at office supply stores (plus 1% CB at Staples) are big fans because $200 VGCs from the office supply stores are pretty burdensome to liquidate otherwise. I move over $4K a month through Evolve using Staples VGCs to pay household bills and will have earned over 250,000 UR points and 1% CB by the end of the year if this method doesn't die. These are all bills that would have had to had been paid with check or ACH otherwise.

anyone else having problem with payments today?

msiamsia Jun 3, 2014 7:34 am

Anyone tried split WF mortgage payments (<2K) over weekdays instead of recommended weekends? Did these split payments correctly apply to monthly due, not principle (w/out intervention)? Ex. $1000-Monday PM, $remainder- Tues AM,
Any thoughts?

Check my posts in this thread...it works after talking to WF. I just don't feel like typing it all out again.

Thank u. I figured that's the way to go. I'll monitor first how WF applies my funds to see if contacting them is necessary. Thanks.

You probably just want to send it in for your normal amount and then make extra payments through a BB or your bank account.

Thanks. Thou, I Was thinking of doing MS by paying my mortgage off early by just buying cards and using Evolve.

I'll contact Chase after work to see what's up. Evolve seems so... easy.

It really is. And they actually encourage GC usage! If you have a VGC or MCGC that won't work, contact them and they will try to work out the issue and get it working. Evolve really is a gem.

I wonder how they are making money. Is it from the "swipe" fees of the debit card?

Referral fees from banks that users click through to and get accounts and people who use the rush payment service which has a $1.50 fee.

Okay I talked to Chase and asked after my monthly auto debit about having the additional funds applied to principal.

She was like, well, not sure how we can do that unless you call and get it corrected.

How can I get evolve to write "for principal only" on my checks? :)

Is there any evidence that banks are paying referral fees to Evolve or similar companies?

Why would a bank, most of whom can directly debit another deposit account, want to pay Evolve to do similar work in their place?

I need to be doing the same thing.
