This is the thread for posts through 2016. The new thread for 2017 is http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/manufactured-spending/1826119-billpay-walmart-2017-a.html

Bill Pay cannot be done at a regular register.
It must be done at Customer Service/Returns.
Or at the Money Center in stores that have it.

BUSINESS DAY transaction completion time is 18:59:59 EST
Friday after 06:59PM EST, until Monday BEFORE 07:00PM EST arrives Tuesday
Tuesday BEFORE 7:00PM arrives Wednesday
Wednesday BEFORE 07:00PM arrives Thursday
Thursday BEFORE 07:00PM arrives Friday
Friday BEFORE 07:00PM arrives Monday
But when a next-day payment will post and be visible depends upon the CC issuer.

--------------------------------------------------------------
WM offers two BP services: CheckFreePAY and MoneyGram. The cashier can initiate CheckFreePAY by selecting Money Services followed by Bill Pay on the register for a fee of $1-1.88. Moneygram is $4.99.

Once your CFP account is set up, you can add cc. When you want to BP give them your phone# to look up your account under Money Services. They often get confused and think you want MG, but just say it is under Money Services.

ONLY 4 successful debit card swipes can pay for a transaction.

ONLY 5 payments per 16 digit account number per rolling 30 days.
--------------------------------------------
:-:VISA and MC
If your particular card isn't on the list below, try "VISA" or "MASTERCARD."

"VISA" and "MASTERCARD" payee can no longer be found by search at some stores. If the employee can no longer find "VISA" or "MASTERCARD" by searching in CheckFreePAY, then you cannot pay either, end of story.

Following do not work:
Any and all Vanilla VISA, Vanilla MC, and OneVanilla VISA.
Glimcher VISA
MASTERCARD
$1.88 next day.
Works:

I was doing the MO and depositing to a credit union account. If my local WM still does have BP working, how many Staples GCs can you swipe (the 4 swipe limit still true like for MO)?

The Visa and MasterCard options were there but after clicking it, another window popped up showing a list of retail CC options like Sears. No Chase, No Barclay, No Citi... Dead end.

Armed with a bunch of gift cards went to my local WM and had exactly the same issue. After entering VISA there were pretty much no banks showing up in the list - just some retail store credit cards and I remember Sears was among those few. The terminal kept on asking for company ID and the associate did not know what to enter. She tried VISA, MasterCard, bank names, etc. Nothing worked. So after about an hour of frustration I decided to let it go (at least for now).

how to use 4 gift cards for bill pay

Hello, today I could not get bill pay work either. The cashier was able to find Chase credit cards through visa network, but he does not know how to split the payment to 4 cards? Does anyone know how to do this? What key to press on the cashier's end? Thank you in advance.

My go to WMT's in Northern Virginia region are all dead. The Asian lady at checkout was complaining to an Asian guy in front of me that a lot of Asians pay multiple bill pays (tens) every week.

The CSM told us that due to the heavy volume and to avoid Legal issues of processing Cash equivalent transactions at such high volume Walmart corporate and check free have decided to disable it (he wasn't sure if it was Universal)

Ok, so overall today was a really complicated walmart billpay day... After not being able to pay at the closest WM, went to 2 other WM and at both checkfreepay was working. Cashiers were able to complete payments using VISA and Mastercard as payees. The bad thing - it looks like it impossible to split payments (has to be paid in 1 swipe), so to pay the amount I wanted, I had to make multiple separate payments and pay service fee for each. The other thing - if the transaction (a single transaction) is $900+ (including fee), ID and SSN are required and they ask questions like address, occupation, etc. Anyway, I will try to get rid off the GCs I have as soon as possible, while some WMs here still accepting payments for credit cards.
