This is the thread for posts through 2016. The new thread for 2017 is http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/manufactured-spending/1826119-billpay-walmart-2017-a.html

Bill Pay cannot be done at a regular register.
It must be done at Customer Service/Returns.
Or at the Money Center in stores that have it.

BUSINESS DAY transaction completion time is 18:59:59 EST
Friday after 06:59PM EST, until Monday BEFORE 07:00PM EST arrives Tuesday
Tuesday BEFORE 7:00PM arrives Wednesday
Wednesday BEFORE 07:00PM arrives Thursday
Thursday BEFORE 07:00PM arrives Friday
Friday BEFORE 07:00PM arrives Monday
But when a next-day payment will post and be visible depends upon the CC issuer.

--------------------------------------------------------------
WM offers two BP services: CheckFreePAY and MoneyGram. The cashier can initiate CheckFreePAY by selecting Money Services followed by Bill Pay on the register for a fee of $1-1.88. Moneygram is $4.99.

Once your CFP account is set up, you can add cc. When you want to BP give them your phone# to look up your account under Money Services. They often get confused and think you want MG, but just say it is under Money Services.

ONLY 4 successful debit card swipes can pay for a transaction.

ONLY 5 payments per 16 digit account number per rolling 30 days.
--------------------------------------------
:-:VISA and MC
If your particular card isn't on the list below, try "VISA" or "MASTERCARD."

"VISA" and "MASTERCARD" payee can no longer be found by search at some stores. If the employee can no longer find "VISA" or "MASTERCARD" by searching in CheckFreePAY, then you cannot pay either, end of story.

Following do not work:
Any and all Vanilla VISA, Vanilla MC, and OneVanilla VISA.
Glimcher VISA
MASTERCARD
$1.88 next day.
Works:
Bank of America Cash Rewards Business MC

This is pretty much the last nail in the coffin for large scale MS. Very difficult to push the kind of volume with MO's as we can with Billpay...looks like my A+ card will see much less use..

You understand MS existed before May of last year, right (creation date of this thread)?

MS more than $100K/month is going to be tough with MO. Maybe if you have a pile of bank accounts to work with.

Be willing to bet that MO @ WM is the next thing to go.

Confirming that BP at WM did not work today. I tried Chase and citi - and no go both for Mastercard and Visa.

Visa seems to be better to try - but even with the Chase Card Member Services - which is the only convenient option left for MS for Visa/MC - my card number did not go through - an error popped up stating the number did not match a Chase C. M. S. number...

I'm planning to check another WM tomorrow given the reports that the update was supposed to be for certain WMs only. I ended up with a crapload of MOs and dread having to deposit to my bank account...

Does anyone else have similar experiences?

"All I Want for Christmas Is You"

I don't want a lot at Walmart
There is just one thing I need
I don't care about the rollback specials
Underneath the Walmart store Christmas tree

I just want Checksfree for my own
More than you could ever know
Make my wish come true
All I want at Walmart is bill pay from you, yeah.

I don't want a lot at Walmart
There is just one thing I need
I don't care about the rollbacks
Underneath the Walmart store Christmas tree

I don't need to buy thongs or pink stockings
And look like that peopleofwalmart face
Customer Service won't make me happy
With a toy on Christmas Day

I just want Checksfree for my own
More than you could ever know
Make my wish come true
All I want at Walmart is bill pay from you
You, baby

Oh, I won't ask for much at this Walmart
I won't even wish for MOs
And I'm just gonna keep on waiting
Until that Checksfree list re-grows

I won't make a list of promos and send it
To the forum for all those FT dicks
I won't even stay awake to
Waste my time posting there with a single click

'Cause I just want Checksfree here tonight
Paying all my CCs each night
What more can I do?
Baby, all I want at Walmart is bill pay from you
You, baby

Oh, all the lights are shining
So brightly everywhere
And the sound of children's
Crying in line fills the air

And everyone else is singing
I hear those register bells ringing
CSR, won't you bring me the one thing I really need?
Won't you please bring my bill pay back to me?

Oh, I don't want a lot at Walmart
This is all I'm asking for
I just want to see my bill pay baby
Showing up right on screen once more

Oh, I just want Checksfree for my own
More than you could ever know
Make my wish come true
Baby, all I want at Walmart is bill pay from you
You, baby

This is sad news indeed. Although there are other MS options, this was very convenient to do large scale MS'ing. The MO's using non-bank issued debit cards will be the next to go.

Went to 5 different WMs today and at all, but one, I was able to make payments through CFP. Made several payments at each WM and got rid of all my GCs. At one WM CFP payments towards credit cards were no longer available. So this change is either temporary, selective at some stores or change in progress which will eventually be implemented nationwide. Buying GCs with the plan to pay credit card bills should probably be avoided (at least for now).

I paid a Mastercard Friday at a WM 500 miles from home. I paid a visa card today at my local WM. Maybe it was localized or system issues.

Hmmm, so if I'm correctly understanding the situation tonight on Walmart bill pay, you've got to show up at a store, wait on line, and hope for the best!

With any luck, there will be more clarity -- or a workaround -- in a few days.
