can cvs POS allow paying with multiple AGC in one transaction? Do I need to tell the cashiers up front or simply keep swiping?

Yes, you can use multiple AGCs at CVS. All experiences I've had autodrain and prompt with a new balance after you zero out the first AGC. Swipe and repeat. Even if the remaining balance is $20, the cashier will need the last 4 digits of the second (or third, or fourth...) card.

This is my experience as well, although I find autodraining AGCs @ CVS can sometimes raise unnecessary scrutiny. That's the reason why I've been buying 2019.80 instead.

My local CVS has long had a limit of $2K per day.

Today, the register wouldn't allow more than $1K in VGCs.

The person who rang me up was actually the store manager. He entered my first 2 cards without a problem, but was surprised that the register would not allow him to enter a third $500 VGC.

Is this new, or just my particular store/area?

Do you still get the portal payout? I was under the impression TBC only pays out if the AGC denominations are <= $2000.00.

Just bought $2000 worth, plus $5 in groceries, autodraining a $20 rebate card, and a $2000 AGC in the process. EZPZ.

Same here, just got $2k a few minutes ago and autodrained a few AGCs.

It's such a pleasure dealing with CVS here, just like Target. I've never gotten the "you can't buy a gift card with a gift card" crap, even with non-personalized AGCs; the closest was one employee who wasn't sure if it would work but said "let's try it" (and of course, it worked).

It was a pleasure for me until today also. Clerk said you can no longer buy a prepaid with a prepaid. That it is structuring. ...!!!

My personal favorite was being told by a WG manager that there is a federal law against selling gift cards by credit card and any store allowing it is breaking the law.

LOL he must have a brother that works at Smith's. He told me the same thing. I asked are you sure about that? He answered "Yes I've read the Federal Law several times and you cannot buy anything that says VISA on it with a Credit Card"

Does anyone know what the CVS clerk can see after scanning your ID? Is your purchase history visible? I went in to purchase VGCs tonight with a clerk I haven't dealt with before. After scanning my ID her demeanor changed and she said "actually the system's down so we can't sell these right now". I doubt this was a system issue - seemed more like a timid clerk.

I tried to buy 2 VGCs Friday and the clerk got a message saying something to the affect that there was a problem and that I should try back later. She read this verbatim. I asked if I could try the other card and she said "absolutely". She got the same message and read it back to me again. I thanked her and drove to another CVS where I was able to purchase 2 VGCs.
