VR's take enough time to purchase with a CC... I couldn't even imagine what they would do with counting all the coins!

Count me as another DFW data point.

Talked to two CVS managers in Fort Worth on my Sunday run this afternoon. Neither had seen any corporate directives regarding future changes in VRs. One surmised it might be regional and he also mentioned that being the middle of the country has its benefits....I.e. More fraud takes place on the two coasts.

FWIW.

Survey link is now live! Report whether or not YOUR location is going to CASH ONLY for pre-paids / VRs!

The sky is falling! Everybody should definitely go spend their life savings on VR NOW! Drive to the next state if you have to!

I guess we'll find out exactly what "cash only" means, and if that includes pin based debit, MO, checks, or other instruments that most stores consider "cash".

Yeah, period. Except for, you know - the dozens of people in several non-coastal regions who's friendly CVS managers have said that they've heard nothing about this cash-only policy in the works.

But you know, PERIOD!

Milage run to Atlanta, anyone?

Blueskyheaven Mar 30, 2014 4:37 pm

went to one i rarely go and had no problem grabbing few, the lady supervisor told me btw it is gonna be cash only------- I told her yeahhhhhhhhhhh from tomorrow and I saw the memo.

I tried with my US passport card but wouldn't scan in the back and had to use my DL for only few since I bought remaining of the $5k this morning.

I guarantee VR will be dead from tomorrow In most or ALL states where you have CVS, it will be completely dead in just 3 days in all states and cities where there is a CVS.

If your manager or supervisor or cashier didn't know the new rule yet, blame him or her for not finding out the new info, but the register will stop accepting CC.

None of the DFW stores I visited have heard anything like this either.

Now you know when we all rush to CVS tomorrow to verify this garbage, even if someone finds a CVS that still plays ball, they sure as heck aren't going to be posting it online here lol

I step away for a few hours, and a ton of new posts!

Although the exact date is uncertain, it seems as though we might be talking about a Sunday night massacre. I've got an order of Amex gift cards coming in tomorrow morning, so I certainly hope you're right about Monday night.

If you buy less than $1000 (of card value) in a single transaction, you need not show any form of ID, unless they just want to look at it compare to your credit card name. So, $500 + $499.99 = no limit. Using the same credit card over and over again for such amounts would likely put your credit card into fraud alert status.

Or, as mentioned earlier, use your passport as ID.

Am I correct that the 5k daily limit resets at 12:00GMT, or 8:00EST?

No.

But I know what I heard.

I can vouch for theBOSman. :-)

The passport does not scan; they type the information into their screen. Your address is optional. (Optional for them -- I don't really argue if they ask me to give an address.)

So, the same cashiers who have been bashed repeatedly for not knowing corporate policy are now proof that the sky is falling?

It couldn't be that some crazed MS'ers came in like they were buying bottled water and bread before a hurricane and breathlessly told 'em, could it?

Bawhahahaha! I was actually thinking of holding a Sky Club meet up for displaced CVS manufactured spending.

To quote Dr. Zoidberg from Futurama -- Once again, the conservative, sandwich-heavy (and hub captive) portfolio pays off for the hungry investor.
