Was this in SoCal? A coworker just reported the same thing at three separate CVS's he visited. All VRs pulled, previously well stocked (as of last weekend)

My #1 store haven't had VRs in about 3 weeks now. Somewhat odd as they're usually very well stocked. Even know their stocking schedule, hah. Hopefully it's not a trend in my little slice of heaven.

Found a place with 100's (literally). Walked out with $5k. I'm okay now with my go-to store running dry!

My local CVS just went to cash only, one per day. Found this out after I had to rummage through the gift card looking for hidden beans. Oh the irony! Was told by supervisor that they switched to cash only because of scams. Scams??? Here's an idea, ask to see ID! Fortunately I was able to pick up $3K at another CVS 10 minutes away. Gotta love Jersey. Hope this isn't a growing trend though.
Thanks |

Is it wrong that I started to drool a little when I read you found 100s of them?

No, not these days. But, years ago it was quite routine for merchants to check your card and ID.
Now fast forward to today - I'm comfortable with CVS asking me for my ID when I cross the 1K line. I don't care much for them scanning my DL on their registrer, but that's the price I pay for doing MS. I can choose to go somewhere else or stay below the threshold; but I prefer to walk out with 2K+ on every transaction. I do wonder what they use the DL data for. In a previous post, someone posted that Cali law prohibits a merchant from collecting my DL info; except under very specific circumstances. I took a quick glance at the law; and one exception was for reporting to state or federal authorities. This seemed the only logical exception under the circumstances - unless CVS is just deciding to break the law. Hmm, So are we being uploaded into the big DB in the sky??? :D What will happen next. |
First setback with CVS. I went to my usual CVS store to do my 1k Serve load, and was told they didn't do that. I went close to midnight to do 2 1k loads and save time and gas. After trying to explain to her that I've done that before, and showing her a receipt of such transaction, she called the manager, I was told by the manager that I can only load $500/day. So I was able to do only $500 for 3/26 and $500 for 3/37. Manager said that is the policy of CVS. Is this true? Or is he just BS me? I guess there's nothing I can do.
This sucks because my cashier of choice heard all of this, and now I'm sure he won't go against the "policy". Shouldn't have gone with a young girl cashier. Young people seem to be more risk adverse, need the job more I guess. And are less experienced and question everything with the manager. |
Bought 4 X $500 in HNL yesterday.
Went back to the same store today and was told that the max now was $1,000 a day. Bought 2 X $500. |
LITERALLY, the first line of the wiki LITERALLY covers what both of you just said. LITERALLY.

So went to CVS today (3 of them) need to finish my 10K spend on my 3rd Citi Exce card (thank you Citi.) The clerk tried this very tried line, "Sorry, VR's are cash only, this is Corp policy." I laughed, and said,
Me ; "No it's not, lets stop this game, and ring me up." CVS clerks says, "No, honest it's cash only." Me, "yeah right, handed her 4 VR's (all they had left) said $500 on all of them." CVS; rang the first one up, then second one, handed her my ID and informed her to swipe my ID, she did and scanned the rest of the cards. After this was over, I asked her about the "corp policy" walked out with a smile on my face.... Need 5K more for this last card, will be trying for a 4th AA Exce card mid April.. |

Anyone knows when CVS shifts change (manager and clerks)? I would like to see if I can go today and do the other $500 I wasn't allow to load to my Serve. But I can't see the same manager who was there at midnight today. So, when does he leaves and the other guy comes?

BB (not AA)
My name is Jim. I've been a Been-a-holic for the past year. I've been on the BB program since.
I wanted to share that I am in my 2nd week of being bean-free and I am LOVING IT! Thanks to Serve - no more fees, no more availability issues, no running around in the store, no more being broken hearted, no more being delighted that there was a 2nd gift card rack in the store only to find no beans ever exist there, no more problems with Incomm, no more being surprised the beans are hidden behind other cards, no more employees swapping my beans at the register, no more worries that the scratch-off is partially peeled off, no more sweet-talking Sherry to see when the next shipment comes in, no more of store managers being paged and having to explain why $5000 is corporate policy, and going green by saving the land fill from all the wasted cards ^ |
