Whether 'spilling the beans' will ever happen, one portion seems interesting: why does CVS allow up to $5K/day when much less would accomplish the same goal (foot traffic) and why allow $500 reload cards when the CC processing fee might easily exceed the face value of the selling price? I would find it hard to believe that CVS has negotiated a heavily discounted processing fee with all CC providers, because they take AMEX as well as MC, etc.

OMG. I LOVE CVS............. seriously, I cant what a game changer this is for you guys. I don't have a CVS in my town but while on vacation, I got to experience how easy it is to buy a bunch of beans with a credit card. Wow! I mean its crazy...where I live you are playing the ol' "hope they don't realize I'm using a credit card" game when I got to pay....and then after pumping 10 or 20k through the local chain, they shut me down..cash only they say.....my WM has gotten rid of all of the birthday VGCs thanks to my MS....you bunch of lucky a-holes.

Shoot...I would have a BB for everyone I have ever met if I had one of these mystical beasts in my town. Closest is about 25 minutes away...may be worth it though.

Simple, it's called the Pharmacy, I go back there and purchase the beans.

Oh, come on Man!... you are not using a "race card" in all of this are you? Did you throw it at them?

Sadly, it wouldn't surprise me.

Before starting World War III I think folks should calm down a bit.

I've been doing MS for about 3 months now; and all of it using VR purchased at CVS. The only problems I've had have been a lack of VRs on the shelf! I counted my stack this morning, and have 67 in the drawer - and Mrs T and I will be shopping for another 20 during the next 10 days.

Not once have I been hassled and any of the 4 different stores I frequent. And this is in spite of the fact that the beard on my handsome face (:D) does not match my DL. I've been asked for my DL, which has been swiped on the register (no big deal!), and I have handed the cashier my card to verify the name and last four numbers - THIS IS NORMAL!

If your being hassled at a particular location(s) and you don't like it, then I would suggest that you either find another store or find another MS method.

Have a nice day! :)

Anyone have any tips for making my first $5k run? I generally only do $1k at a time but given that my work has kept me very busy except my weekends I need to make the most of my time. Thoughts? Just grab 10 VR and say $500 a piece and swipe the CC to the tune of $5039.50 and walk out?

No, I'm not trolling either, lol. I want to finish my AA Exec spending.

Yes. That is all.

If it is busy, you may to wait until it dies down so that a line of people are not watching the transaction. Or go to buy them at the pharmacy.

Fuerza - Just completed my 10K spend with my Citi AA Elite; which I did in 17 days. Some might say I slow; as a few posters imply that they do that in a week (or less). I typically do not purchase more that $1.5K per day; and do so about every other day.

This method has worked well for me to achieve my goals (Points & miles), and making the minimum spend requirements for sign up bonus! Have a great day!

Obviously you guys haven't seen pics of MM, hard for a white guy to use the race card, he was only making a point...

Indeed, one of my 4 CVS's just went cash only for BBs. Each store sets its own policy and some managers are more spooked than others.

New to the game in DC and just made my first purchase of beans -- 3 for $1500. Two of the three CVS's I visited had cards in stock and both took credit cards. One scanned my license and the other only asked to see the CC.

For anyone local I'm in NW. I made a list of all ~15 stores in the area but didn't need to go past the second on my list, really.

Using the term "race card" is in itself bigoted -- it dismisses the possibility of racial prejudice out of hand. I think we all know that the world is nowhere near that.
