Trust me, once you waltz in there once or twice and buy $5,039.50 a time or two, they'll know who your are. Or with the wife right behind you, doing the same thing, it won't take more than one visit.

And they'll tend to remember that you have a case or two of beer that's on special too. That never hurts. Miss the beer the next month, and they do remember.

Got $2,500 at two different CVS locations today. The first had to call the manager to approve the sale, but the sale at the second one went without a hitch. I am always nervous when people are behind me, though. I am a pretty tall guy, but all it would take is two equally tall guys and my VRs would be gone.

I never thought about about this. Now I will keep my eyes open. Today when I bought 2k work of Bean, and the cashier has to talk to the CC company for the authorization #. It was about 30mins. I didn't leave the 4 Bean side. The cashier was walking around helping customers at another register, taping up signs, etc.

It could have been worse, the cashier at my store today got on the phone with a certain card issuer :eek::eek: and said, "Majuki is trying to buy $5k in gift cards." Well, at that point there was no going back. Hopefully I avoided getting into FR territory. The CSR was really friendly, but perhaps it's the calm before the storm. :D

Yup. that's what I was afraid of also. CC asking Cashier what I am buying for 2k. But all she verify was my identity, then talk to the cashier for the store's info. It took 30mins because the fraud dept was trying to get the cashier an authorization #. Was on hold for like 10-15 mins.

If I know I 'm busy during the week, I'll run in and grab $6-7k worth and load over a couple of days. But it is a bit scary having so many cash equivalents. At least the cashiers don't announce the totals anymore.

I was caught by the $5K limit for the first time today. I bought $3K of GCs yesterday evening at 9:04 pm CDT and then tried to buy another $3K at 5:30 pm CDT. Since the first time was after midnight GMT and the second was before midnight GMT on the same day, I was only allowed to buy $2K. The clerk was very nice about it, though. They are all nice at this CVS.

I went to Walgreens to buy the last $1K and they had Whitman's Samplers on sale for $3.99 with coupon. It's not great chocolate, but it's OK, and $3.99 for 12 oz. is a pretty good price. So messing up on my purchase times turned out to be a good thing.

Five thousand thirty nine dollars and fifty cents. Will that be cash or debit?

Its your job to be prepared with answers when these questions come up. Seriously, think of the questions that someone would ask, and come up with real answers. Then you don't have to worry about it.

Here's a hint: The crazier the answer, the fewer followup questions they'll ask.

I've bought 5,000 for 6 straight days. Anyone have a record? I'm wondering if there's some sort of high end weekly limit or something that we may run into? I'm sure someone probably does it 28 or 29 days a month, but just wondering data points. I'm skipping tomorrow, but probably 6 more days so I can have April ready to go for April 1st-5th for Bluebirds.

Had you ramped up to that level, or did you jump right into $5k transactions? I'm curious whether your CC company caused a ruckus if/when you were buying $1k, $2k at a time.
