theres the walmart link to this......and says its cash and check only.

Check? They're really asking for a fraud nightmare.

Is this a coincidence that WM is now featured as a retailer for VR's?

Um, what's that one about?

That sounds simple enough. Obviously, if you have a drugstore bonus credit card it doesn't help you, but for folks simply using BB to reach their credit card minimum spends, why isn't this simple technique more popular?

because you cannot use a CC!

Woohoo! I was able to buy VR's fee-free (thanks ISIS) :)

How is it fee free to buy VR's with ISIS? I have ISIS on 5 of my family phones, but didn't know there was a way to get it fee free?

I've never noticed that before on VR's website. Does WM even sell VRs?

They have been selling for a while... Cash only..

If CVS is about to become useless for buying vanilla and other reloads, can they still offer us any value in terms of buying MOs with a PIN debit?

What are the rules, costs, limits? Would love folks to weigh in with data including how easy it is and whether cashiers tend to be picky about it being an official debit vs. a prepaid say visa or MC GC?

Datapoint:

Confirmed seeing the note in Northern Virginia.
Took the wife to get our usual 5k/per person.

1st stop: Cashier let me buy the 5k with a warning stating today would be the last day. Cashier showed me the exact same letter stating cash only starting tomorrow.

2nd stop: Was able to buy the next 5k with no problems.

It's in the wiki. (Rolling 24hours)

Sorry, I should have clarified. I read the wiki, but there are tons of datapoints that disagree with that particular entry. I thought the cutoff time had been established.

As someone else has already responded, the VR limit is rolling 24 hour limit.
For the POS software update, wouldn't Sunday night/Monday morning make sense as the least busy times? For a Retail store selling lots of snacks, contraceptives and first aid supplies, I don't think they'd want their registers doing a software update at midnight on a Friday or Saturday near college campuses even if the calendar was on the cusp of a new month.

Yes, that would seem to be the least busy time. But software updates rarely go into place at midnight (especially since midnight EDT = 9 PM PDT, which would still be a busier time). More common maintenance windows are 3-4 AM, or somewhere in that range. That's when tend things to be really dead, and not even the early birds are out and purchasing anything yet.

Cash only for MO at CVS at least here.

The wiki is wrong. I bought 5k yesterday around 3pm. Then bought another 5k around 8am this morning. So it def rolls over around midnight.

Not a 24 hour rolling period. Bought some at 4pm yesterday and now at 10 this morning.

EDIT: This is why I never post before I get fully caught up:

I just came back from one CVS where there was an actual huddle around the gift card rack. People were checking behind gift cards, under the gift card rack, on shelves...I drove ten minutes down the road and their racks were full of VRs :D
