No more buying beans with credit cards as of 4/1/2014

My wife and I were at two different CVS stores this morning and both let us know that tomorrow is the last day to buy VR cards with a credit card.

I have a very close relationship with these 2 CVS stores and both got the memo from corporate.

I would get out there as soon as possible and buy what you think is appropriate for you.

This is a for sure thing - The VR game is ending and soon.

It is posted at multiple places, I will try to get a picture when I go out today.

Except that everyone keeps posting the same picture.

Though manager in Central NJ confirmed today is last day....

I bought vr today and the cashier had to go through additional prompts, something like is the customer in front of you and not calling on the phone. First time that has happened.

It is not ending, still many methods there. this one is the easiest one for many at a fixed cost..

I think most people value their time more than that to prove a point that won't do much tbh.

I wonder if texting/contacting Mr. Chaney and letting him know that you plan on boycotting CVS unless they change this policy, would have any effect?

Anyone concerned about what this means for Incom?

Should you short CVS?

I welcome input on this but I was thinking that most market projections for retail operations are based around same store sales figures. VR have to account for a large amount of an individual stores sales if multiple customers are buying the equivalent of a car from them each month. Combined with their lost revenue from tobacco products this fall, I wondered if it's not time to short CVS sometime after they release Q1 results and the release of Q2.

If anyone knows a manager and you have the opportunity to strike up a conversation, ask them what percentage of their store sales their gift card rack represents.

Two data points:

Not a 24 hour rolling period. Bought some at 4pm yesterday and now at 10.

Anyone else been able to do this?
Anyone been denied, two different days/less than 24 hours?

They still allow CC's, but stringent about the $1k max. Leads to a lot of people stealing the VR's according to the managers I talked to...

Also, my mom was able to purchase $1k from a few stores yesterday night. I will let you know if she is able to do the same this morning.

In central San Diego, all of the CVS stores I visit also limited me to $1k/day, although I did find one cashier who was willing to ring VR up $500 at a time to avoid getting limited. I'm out of town today so I won't get to try buying any today in San Diego.

I thought about that as well. One would have to think that their revenue estimates are going to fall short unless they have had this planned for some time? Im guessing Q2 earnings may show a revenue miss and that is just enough to scare off investors IMO. Im not taking a position on the stock one way or another though.

CVS is Glad to see it go,

AA Citi will be glad to get rid if the early fee credit card cancelers type.

Both type non profit...

You have no one to blame but yourself.

Also should have mentioned it was the same store within 24 hours, if that helps.
