It has been going all to smoothly of late. There was another sign, or at least I took it as a sign, last week. I'm spending my day today looking at alternatives :( |

Come on people, if this is the stop of all VR's at CVS's fine, this game will continue, there are other places to get VR's or VGCs.. |

It's been suggested a couple of times that it's foolish to think CVS would be doing this as an April Fools joke. I don't think anyone is saying that CVS is behind the joke. The people responsible could be MSers, could be on another forum, and could be targeting FT. There is a level of disdain that exists for such an open exchange of this information.

Ok, what time does the clock for the 5k limit on VRs reset each night? Midnight Eastern?
I sincerely doubt it, but it's possible that the POS update will take place at midnight for each time zone, not all on EST. Or, perhaps more likely, CVS does their updates & maintenance at during their least busy hours (probably 3-4 AM). Either way, it could buy us an extra hour or two, which means another 5k load. Any thoughts on that? Is the VR reset time midnight eastern? Have you ever heard an employee complain about POS updates that take place at ______ time? For the POS software update, wouldn't Sunday night/Monday morning make sense as the least busy times? For a Retail store selling lots of snacks, contraceptives and first aid supplies, I don't think they'd want their registers doing a software update at midnight on a Friday or Saturday near college campuses even if the calendar was on the cusp of a new month. |
Looks like it hit the blogs this morning, front page news!

For those concerned CVS still works this morning to buy beans on credit. But the memo is posted at both stores I visited for the change as of April 1.

Has anyone seen this/confirmed with store manager that is NOT on the east coast? Seems like these are all from NYC, BOS, FLA, etc.

:DJust bought 2k at my cvs and asked "are you going to cash only tomorrow?" Cashier started grinning and asked if I read that on the internet! She then said come back tomorrow and buy some see what happens, with a slight grin and a wink!
Either cvs does as someone said.... Have really horrible communication skills, or it's just certain areas. All that said. Why would they have to tell the ee's, the register will do that the first time they try to ring it up. Then they will know. That's how my company would do it and they stink at communication |
so once this actually happens, Is there any place at all to buy a VR using a cc,to load bb? if not, then how do you load it? or is it useless now? What other options are there?

Why do people keep blaming the noobs, bloggers, etc.? This is a result of fraud, not anything MS-related. VRs are the most used prepaid for fraud (there was a link proving this several pages ago). Considering that CVS is constantly plagued by people calling the store to purchase these over the phone (read: fraud), making VRs cash only seems to be a good policy from CVS' end.

Switching to cash only does nothing for that specific vector. The POS unit is already changed to prevent the call in method anyway.
Or was the dirty little secret that nobody talks about except in private forums was that a bunch of you old-time MS'ers didn't even have to leave your house to get your beans!! |
