Only a couple of people said that, if I recall correctly. Most took it as real and were tolling the funeral bells immediately. Me, I'm waiting for March 31 to see what happens.

Or possibly the programmer will say, "Hey, those aren't reloadable debit cards!" and not include VRs in the programming.

I don't think it's regional. The person that wrote the memo is the CVS corporate category manager responsible for prepaid products. His Angelist profile lists his duties as;

"...responsible for All Prepaid cards (Third Party Gift, GPR, Prepaid Wireless, Long Distance, Prepaid Debit, B2B, E-cards and Proprietary Card programs). This includes building strategies to leverage technology which enables prepaid to bring innovation to corporate promotional programs with other categories. "

So if I bought 3k at 4pm for example I can't buy anymore for 24 hours? Does it reset at midnight or do I have to wait until 4pm? I can't buy 2k more?

You can buy 2k more. There have been multiple times I've had my license scanned twice in a day just cant go over 5k.

This seems like a real reach. We'll know soon enough, but I wouldn't hold out hope.

Well, if true, I know one thing CVS corporate can work on:

COMMUNICATION

:D

Actually, regardless true or false, this obviously can be worked on.

I agree it doesn't look good, but apparently this was done in a different region in the past, so its possible they could just be adding additional regions which would explain why managers in different parts of the country are unaware of pending changes. It feels like a stretch, but we can always hope this case. Either way we will all know soon enough.

Perhaps it is your April Fools Day joke when someone at 770-5077 gets a million cell phone calls and texts from frequent fliers trying to get Cary to change his of her mind :)

TheMacallan Mar 29, 2014 8:42 pm

That is one interesting aspect...which "770" number do you dial? A missing area code is suspect.

And phone numbers at CVS corporate in Rhode Island are in the 401-770 exchange.

Update: If you Google "401" plus the phone number on the memo, the top result is listing of contacts in the merchandising department. The author's area of responsibility and phone number match the memo.

You just made a good point for that this could be regional! I don't see someone in Cali getting the same memo as someone in NY if Cary is a regional manager.

kingrat Mar 29, 2014 8:44 pm

JESUS

Accept It - I spoke to 2 managers and they said they have the same memo

IT IS REAL - more real than the WMD that Bush lied about..

My sister in CA said they told her the same in Napa Valley..

CVS may have an internal phone system where they all are connected to the same area code.

I had the same system when I worked for a nationwide law firm. We had local numbers that the public could call into, but when we called out, it was through the same network and we never had to use area codes.
