Ok, what time does the clock for the 5k limit on VRs reset each night? Midnight Eastern?

I sincerely doubt it, but it's possible that the POS update will take place at midnight for each time zone, not all on EST. Or, perhaps more likely, CVS does their updates & maintenance at during their least busy hours (probably 3-4 AM). Either way, it could buy us an extra hour or two, which means another 5k load.

Any thoughts on that? Is the VR reset time midnight eastern? Have you ever heard an employee complain about POS updates that take place at ______ time?

Same here. This is hilarious. Can't take life too seriously. Opportunities have closed in the past. New ones will open.

The people responsible could be MSers, could be on another forum, and could be targeting FT. There is a level of disdain that exists for such an open exchange of this information.

On the other hand, this move would loosely coincide with the big jump over to Serve and everyone do register loads. Perhaps this bridged the information gap that was protecting us from Amex realizing the extent of "abuse" going on with their prepaid cards. VR might have acted as a buffer. Besides they have been hating on the game lately, what with removing themselves from BP services and limiting card bonuses to once a lifetime?! Do they wield the power to change CVS policy like this.. Chase did at OD right?

Boy the wheels are spinning

I'm with you. If this turn to be true, I think AMEX might have had most to do with it. They are pushing Serve instead of BB.

This sucks. I think this explains why I went today to my usual store and found zero ice cream. This is the first day I don't see at least 10 of them on the rack. This is a big blow to my MS activities.

I'm game to buy CVS shares and force a change back ;)

Im in the same situation. There is a new CVS that is about to grand open maybe within the next 2 weeks. What is particular about this CVS is that it is located next to a huge CVS distribution center. If VRs got sold out at this CVS...the freakin huge ... distribution center is right there.

Agreed. I'm sad but I'm sure something new will present itself. Now, just to figure out what it is. PMs welcome :D

Can't believe the level of freak out in this thread. You'd think that there wasn't a heap of easy replacements that are actually better than VRs + BBs.

The only reason VRs + BBs are so big is the massive blogs covered them. Guess what, the massive blogs covered it because they get an affiliate commission for every BB sign up.

If you've made it this far, I'm sure you'll find something else that works just as well.

I have been exchanging a small stock of Serve cards that were bought during the last couple weeks for VR's...

Yesterday, I was told by manager of an East Coast store that starting 3/31 there was going to be policy change to cash only.

cyntax Mar 30, 2014 2:43 am

Post I saw seemed to indicate that Serve swipe reloads were going cash only too.

replacements like what?

jonnydoe1234 Mar 30, 2014 3:12 am

Very interesting how many cards could apparently be reloaded by CC at a CVS register before this -- JH, Momentum, Mio, etc. Was relatively new to the MS game but don't recall anyone ever mentioning this.

after 24 pages and 300+ posting hopfully no more chicken little posting...

Come on people, if this is the stop of all VR's at CVS's fine, this game will continue, there are other places to get VR's or VGCs..

No joke. Saw a printout of the email in NH, not exactly a populous area or financial Mecca.

I don't think it's regional. The person that wrote the memo is the CVS corporate category manager responsible for prepaid products. His Angelist profile lists his duties as;

"...responsible for All Prepaid cards (Third Party Gift, GPR, Prepaid Wireless, Long Distance, Prepaid Debit, B2B, E-cards and Proprietary Card programs). This includes building strategies to leverage technology which enables prepaid to bring innovation to corporate promotional programs with other categories. "

You know, those tech types in Silicon Valley aka Tech .........s, are also involved in all the MS stuff. The AngelList profile seems suspicious of what a tech troll would do...
