The CVS I frequent had this same email for the cashiers. One of my go to cashiers showed me the email print out after I told her I heard today was the last I could purchase them.

Three stores in North Dallas were clueless when I told them why I was buying so many yesterday and today due to going to cash only. This included a manager, a supervisor, and a normal cashier at different stores.

The context has been lost here, but I was responding to ZapperO that CVS in the Boston area accepts cash only for purchasing money orders – not vanilla reload cards. The fact that you're reporting that you were able to purchase "them with credit" makes me think you are talking about VRs rather than money orders, since I highly doubt CVS sells money orders via credit card.

Really? Given all the reports from people coming in your going to beat the drum now that maybe the cashiers are just reporting what they heard from other customers?

Ever think that the CVS stores with notice of the memo are well-run stores and the ones without notice are not? There is a lot of turnaround of employees (managers + associates) at least around my area....

I bought $2k (all that was left at a store) at 3:40pm yesterday and bought $5k at 3pm (pacific), so that has credence and disapproves the 24-hr rolling (wish I'd known earlier).

I sent a PM to vice president Dick Cheny's twitter. Hope he tells his nephew Cary cheney rethink his decision to not sell VR with CC.

I will just say there must have been a mad dash to CVS today. There is a CVS that is usually fairly well stocked. I never really took advantage of it except for the occasional need to meet a spend. Anyway, I stopped by to check it out today as I need to buy a couple of things from CVS anyway, and wow, was the gift card rack stripped bare of VR (normally, 2 full stacks).

Anyway, I thought I was out of luck when I spotted a few remaining ones. Even though I really hate to have my DL scanned (not a fan), I cleared the rest. I was hoping to buy a bit more, but it'll do. Cashier was kind and nonchalant about the whole thing, casual inquiry chat about why people buy it and he also mentioned that people come in often to buy lots of them. ;) No mention of the upcoming change.

As mentioned by others the only thing making me think (hope) this is a hoax is that we actually had a few people say they saw this posted yet they didn't think to take a photo of it.

LOL. Perhaps none of the DFW store managers read their emails. It will be fun to see how it all turns out tomorrow.

We should open a store and setup a merchant account to sell VRs online! Yea there are many problems with this scenario I am well aware, but its the thought that counts.

I love that people think they can "guarantee" something based only on their own anecdotal experience. It may happen tomorrow that no one can buy a VR at any CVS nationwide, but there are other possibilities.

Just drove from my house to the airport and stopped at 3 different CVS locations in South Florida. Bought a month worth of ice cream (which I never do in 1 day). Now I have enough ice cream to feed my BB in April, but that's all.

I'm glad I bought 1 ice cream on Saturday where the cashier told me it was cash only. I told him to double check with his Manager... manager came and told me it will be cash only starting Monday. I was :confused: then I read it here and :(

Then again soo many people have guns in Texas maybe they are a bit scared of telling people VRs are going cash only ;)
