Amazon has been sending requests for information (like social security number) to accounts via their email with a short time allowed for response. If your brother has not been regularly looking at the email account linked to his AP account that is one way his account may have ended up suspended. Have had a few accounts "killed" in just that manner.

Have you checked your AP account? I saw this error message before when Amazon disabled my brother's account.

Had that happen to a friend who's involved in our AP conga. He never entered his SSN from early last year when we started so it seems that was his only holdup. After he entered it, it worked fine.

new year, stricter rules enforcement.

Ran into a loophole by accident, but yah I am not planning on exploiting it to stay in the good books and obvious speculation that everything has probably been tightened for this year. Happy with the family accounts they are letting us for now :D

Excuse me if there is a FAQ on this, but is it possible to pay rent through AP? Or is AP exclusively for online payments (similar to PayPal)? Does AP ever write a check to a merchant/retailer?

Unless you are dealing with a very small landlord/management company I would try williampaid. Yes their is a fee unlike amazon payments

Can a veteran AP user please PM me? I'm receiving some crazy communications from AP upon making my first payment and I don't want to broadcast everything in this thread. Especially since they seem to be tightening the reigns for the new year.

Similar situation, but has anyone put "rent" in the subject line of what the payment is for? Would that trigger anything on the AP side? Thinking of 'paying' my roommate for rent via this method.

Just wanted to clarify, you do it through Amazon? I quoted an article about williampaid but was referring to AP.

The memo under goods/services is most likely irrelevant but can't hurt to add something. I put something in there like "rent", "paid in full" or "landscaping".
