Almost none? I gave you 4. The article in WSJ was written in 2009, yet the deal was killed in 2011. You are damn right it was not a coincidence. The government killed the deal because it wasn't working. It's really amazing that they let it run for so long.

Nope, can't be that. Because aside of NPR, I also remember the articles in Forbes, LAT, Money Magazine, not even mentioning the WSJ article conspicuously called "Miles for Nothing: How the Government Helped Frequent Fliers Make a Mint" that was written in 2009! Yet, the festivities continued unabated for another two years after that. Why didn't that article kill Mint in 2009?
Forgive me, but blaming bloggers with their tiny number of followers compared to those national publications, is beyond ridiculous. The government killed the deal because the Mint was bleeding money, and someone somewhere had to stop it at some point. Would've happened with or without bloggers and NPR. |

You missed the point. You can't keep rubbing someone’s face in it and expect them to do nothing. That is the only reason the Mint deal is dead.
There's no way that Amazon, ST, etc. aren't aware of what's going on. They're okay with that, but they're not okay with the WSJ articles that make them look like idiots. Mike |

Mike Exactly, nail, nail to the coffin. If Amz is on to us and if this thread continues on and on and sooner or later someone WILL BRAG about it then they will make Amz look like idiots and guess what will happen next. "Remember the Mint" is my battle cry. |

Would it be possible for me to ask a question about using AP? Or are we just going to keep having a meta-discussion about deal killing?

Ironic that we keep bumping this thread to complain about how bloggers are publicizing this deal too much.

I'm used to posting in the Trick It thread so I know sometimes the line can be overstepped without even trying ;). I was pretty sure it would be ok as none of CC/AP/my bank as me would know about both of the other two, and seems far less aggressive than some other things I've read here, never mind what people don't ever mention :D. I don't plan to make this a regular thing (because I can't transfer to the family member for other reasons), but just wanted to assure that the spend would be hit. Thanks!
