On the other hand, if you try it on days running those 2% promotions (which can be stacked), the reward can be significant. For example last month (Aug 17th to be precise) it was earning 9% on the first $250 spent at gas stations, 7% for the next $1250. I'd try on a day when one of those additional promotions can be stacked (assuming there is a promotion some time like that next quarter).

Another one to stack is their retention bonus for infrequently used cards. Right now I have offers for $250 CB for $1500 spend for 5 months. That's another potential 3%.

Also, birthday months 2% on first $500. Things that make you go hrmmm.... Damn FT causing me not to work today... again :p

I got a great targeted promo in July good for August to December for $50 cash back with 50 uses of the card. I figured if I used the card 50 times between 8/1 and 12/31 I would get $50 extra cash back, but when I called to enroll the agent told me every calander month I used the card 50 times I got $50 back, so that is $250 for the rest of the year. I was using it for small things like coffee and gas store soda purchases (5% gas station cash back this quarter) and if I was buying a few small items at the grocery at the self serve lane ringing an item, scanning the card, and repeating. Maybe if I do a bunch of $1 AP payments on discover I can reach the 50 uses a month faster?:) I hate the return on discover so I only use it for 5% bonus purchases and promos like this one.

Question

Sorry. I am new to Amazon payments.

I recently applied for Amex SPG and need to spend $5k within 6 months. Would it be possible for me to use SPG to transfer money to my brothers Amazon payment account? I know there is a restriction of $1000 every month.

If this is not possible, could anyone tell me any other ways of spending money thru the credit card?

Thanks.

Amazon payments

Thank you for the reply. I have some more questions.

1) Is it free to send and receive money for sure? or any fees associated with sending or receiving money via amazon payments?

2) if i use a credit card to send money to another person, will it be a cash advance or purchase transaction? Can i use any credit card (Citi AAdvantage or AMEX SPG) to transfer the money?

3) Is there a fee to receive money?

Can someone answer these questions?

Thanks.

Okay, I'm going to turn into one of those people ...

Did you bother to even read the thread? Or search "fees" at the top? All of your questions have already been answered.

Sometimes I wonder why bother posting data points and experience on the boards if people aren't going to bother to read it

Could be. I've not been to the jungle in well over a year. I was asked to leave and never come back.

I don't hike in my AMEX boots when in the jungle, but I do use my AMEX to bootstrap receiving, not sending accounts. Receiving accounts never use the card once it is attached - it just hangs onto the account like so much dead moss.

You can transfer the money to my AP account if you'd like

I have no idea what these ramblings are all about, probably a mess load of inside jokes or whatever... but they have probably added 6+ pages of garbage to this thread.

I just finished all 18 pages and once this childish back & forth started, it became very difficult to actually find information.

I don't know if it is on purpose or what, but then newbies start asking questions and get flammed for it.

Imagine if I had started on page 14 or 15 instead of 1? I would think that most of this thread was full of inside jokes I wasn't a part of.

Just saying

Saying what? There's no code in my message so I can't figure out why you chose to quote it.

But I'll see if I can make it more clear for you and anyone else:

I said: I've not been in over a year and was asked to not come back

ADK asked: Have you considered going back?

To which I replied: No, I haven't had a need to just yet.

I sincerely hope that helps you in your quest for informaition related to Amazon Payments
