johndeere19 Nov 5, 2010 2:51 pm

They've closed down multiple accounts because of this exact thing...check out the slickdeals thread here.

Seen that and not looking for a way to do multiple accts but rather looking to find if theres a way to do more than $1k on a single acct (funded from the cc)

Question for those who have done this. Is the transaction shown as a purchase? You can PM me if more appropriate.

owenv Nov 6, 2010 2:00 am

I also tried to get information about Amazon payments but i couldn't get that. If anyone knows, Kindly help me.

What information? Please be specific. But maybe start with the Slickdeals thread linked to above before posting more questions.

Yes

FlyingBoat Nov 6, 2010 1:26 pm

You need to select for product or service when doing the transaction instead of for cash advance in order to have it show up as a purchase.

Astrophsx Nov 6, 2010 1:45 pm

Looks like most are just setting up two accounts. It also looks like some have gotten caught by sending the maximum amount ($1k) to themselves in one payment. Your best bet looks to be sending several payments to a second account in one month, maybe payments of $250. Also, you may want to avoid sending another account money and then having that account send you money back on the same day.

HoKo Nov 6, 2010 3:51 pm

so are most of you guys creating two accounts both in your name and then sending the money or are you guys sending money to a spouse / friend and having them give you the cash?

Ben Linus Nov 21, 2010 8:24 am

I was charged 1.00 for sending $250.00 and my wife was charged $1.00 for receiving that same $250.00.

Did I miss something? I thought there were no fees...

amtbooks Nov 21, 2010 9:49 am

one of my friends got his account cancelled.

aussieflyer Nov 22, 2010 3:43 am

Be very careful

Accounts are being shut down right, left and centre.
If they sniff you're up to something, they'll close you down.

Don't send back and forth immediately, stagger amounts, use different names/IP addresses etc.
A bit of common sense goes a long way...

bylin2000 Nov 23, 2010 6:23 pm

so are there fees for personal accounts now?

the amazon payments website isnt very clear. the fees table is for amazon simplepay and checkout by amazon... not personal accounts correct?

Bump. I can't find this either. Is it possible to do $$1k/month through this service without any problems like having the account closed?

"There are no fees charged for withdrawing funds from your Amazon Payments account, but there are minimum transfer amounts:

* Minimum of $1.00 for Amazon.com Gift Certificate withdrawals"

Would this apply to what you did?

I can not find ANYTHING about a maximum on the amazon site yet... but i did read that people were banned for doing more than $1,000 at a time. But I'm told $1000 a month is no problem. I think I'm gonna do that. Send $1k a month from wife to self (with only 1 card at a time?).

"edit my account settings" -> middle section where it says "view my account limits"

And no, you do to get banned for trying to send more than $1k, it just won't go thru

You WILL get banned if you try to set up a lot of accounts and send a lot more $. They may not catch on right away, but they will eventually.

That makes sense.
But this still seems like a great way to meet spending requirements on cards. Easier than the mint coins even.

It is, just don't get greedy.

travelisfree May 20, 2011 4:33 pm

:-)
Good advice. Don't ruin a good thing.

greenythebeast May 20, 2011 4:40 pm

So any tips on how to use this responsibly to meet spending requirements?

Aside from use it to meet $1k worth of spend per month? No.

abcx May 20, 2011 6:02 pm

Where is it written that personal accounts don't have a fee?

From experience, yes they do - just keep in mind Amazon payments monthly limits.

Before I let this thread fade into obscurity...

I have tried this method from a number of different angles. It's possible to do, but involves a lot of pseudonyms, numerous bank accounts and a whole lot of hassle as AMZN takes a "practice dollar" from each card to verify that it is real.

It sounds easy on the surface, but it isn't. Trust me, from someone who has more time than common sense.

Mike

and they WILL figure it out

Trust me, from someone who got a phone call from Amazon and is now banned from this service

Again, please let this thread fade into obscurity. If you have any questions, just private message someone from this thread (me included) and I'm sure they would be glad to help.

AMZN

Has anybody successfully been able to increase their limit on the payments section? Just curious if it is worth my time to write and ask.
