Oh, this Grand Inquisition isn't over. My Chase Sapphire was used for the $100 funding and Chase Fraud sent me an email to verify the transaction. Guess I stumbled into some secret new money laundering or terrorist funding technique involving funding $250 a month by credit card to Serve accounts in $100 increments.

Whenever I make a big purchase (over $500) on my Chase or Amex card I almost always get a call to verify. |

Isn't getting calls from Fraud Protection Department a common thing?

I have been declined twice this week for Amex GC purchases, even though I have Wayyy more credit available. One for $6K on business and one for $5K for personal. The Personal was on Ink. Anyone else having decline issues this month?

Yes, Fraud Protection calls are common for big purchases or suspect purchases. Given the small $100 transaction involved I'm guessing that Serve is considered a suspect cash equivalent transaction by Chase.
Hope to get 100 miles, but will report if this ends up coded as a cash advance.

Any call from Fraud means that you have tripped a wire or been randomly chosen for a spot audit. Every institution sets up their own tripwires, some predictive based on individual account history, some reactive based on a specific type or amount of transaction. Just because an institution verifies that you made a transaction does not mean that the institution liked the transaction.

It doesn't really mean much beside verifying the transaction if the call is from Amex, right? I am worried about getting a FR...

Hi all,
I set up my amazon payments account a few days ago and sent my first payment ($1000) using my SPG Amex to my husband's email address. When he tried to create an AP account to create the payment, he received an email saying his identity could not be verified and his Amazon account was locked. He is unable to do anything with his account, and now the money is sitting in limbo. He's called customer service twice - the first rep said he couldn't do anything, would pass on the info, and to expect a call in 24 hours. That call never came, so we called again. The second rep said she couldn't do anything and suggested trying to make a new account with a new email address. If he did that, what would happen to the payment that is currently unclaimed? I want to avoid my statement hitting with a $1000 balance. Any suggestions? |

Been using AP successfully for a while by sending a payment over to my wife's account, then just transferring it into one of our bank accounts. I'd like now start making a payment from her account to mine as well, then I would transfer to it to a different bank account of ours. So we would have 2 payments and I think it would be:
A>B, withdraw B>A, withdraw Will this work, or am I running a high risk? Thanks! |
