Just finished a stay.. Room 108. fantastic service/people/room everything. Loved it

Plat RA - BOGO in Sapphire. 5 additional nights on points. made Sapphire through out (in room 108 which by the way is a great Sapphire room).

no problem with mini bar the first two nights - no charge
also there's free wifi throughout the hotel there now for all guest

Didn't like the Reef restaurant but actually liked the Sands restaurant more.

Question Plat RA Upgrade for BOGO and hope to not have to be moved

Sorry - I have updated my user profile now - I am Platinum RA

So currently I am booked for BOGO at the Sapphire level (very expensive BOGO rate)

I thought I would be upgraded 2 levels to Diamond end of motu view, but RA got me one level to regular diamond.

Also, the concierge emailed me and let me know about the upgrade to diamond and that also if I want to remain in the same bungalow the whole trip ( I have 2 reward nights after the BOGO) that it would be about $450 US a night to guarantee it.

He said they are almost fully booked and that would be the only way to guarantee the same room the whole time...

I hope they can do more to accommodate their Royal ambassadors, but worst case the Family Coral Suites would not be the end of the world... or are they for a honeymooner?

I'm plat RA. had 2 on bogo (sapphire) and 5 on points.
They offered me all 7 at sapphire (free).. so give up upgrade for 2, get 5 to sapphire free.. i took that. and requested/got room 108. i don't think 108 is all that different than 109/110 (diamond) rooms.. they are 3 bungalows apart, you see the same thing.. no diff in rooms.

excellent tip!

were you able to trade the diamond upgrade for the free sapphire on points nights through email before hand when you responded to the concierges notification that you received a diamond upgrade?

or did you have to negotiate this swap during check in?

how are the mosquitoes at thalasso this time of year?

Is DEET spray necessary? Kind of worried about all the health warnings...

Will I be able to get away with one of the lesser strength lemon and citronella sprays that Repel makes?

Thalasso - spray a little around your leg/feet during dinner..
during the day it's not noticeable.
If you go into the mountains, that's a diff story of course

Another question regarding the thalasso mini bar on paid stays... Or BOGO stays...

Do they really enforce only one refill per day stayed?

At Monterey ic on plat RA, I had it refilled twice in the same day no problem!

Thanks in advance of anyone knows how they are currently doing this in bora bora

At my stay, it was refilled once for each day.

there's a person who does it, and they come to the motu once per day. so it's not really a choice..

Update:

So for my 4 night stay at thalasso, I was able to trade my BOGO RA upgrade to diamond for the ability to stay in the same sapphire room booked for the last 2 award nights.

Kudos to the staff for working out a fair deal.

And thank you to the forum member who helped me out above with the request.

Now, what are some of your guys favorite sapphire rooms to request?

I hear 103 is right next to diamond, but how are the views?

Deeper or shallow sapphire better? North or south wing? Inside or outside?

So many possibilities lol!

Ah so for example- one stay at IC Monterey, we ran out of mini bar after sipping on the balcony all day. And they refilled it at dinner time, to where we dusted it off with 3 people by the end of the night, not even drinking heavily really.

Then we requested a refill in the morning, which was actually the 3rd round within 24 hours, albeit we didn't waste a drop of anything consumed.

So with only one guy that comes out once a day to the motu, I assume on demand refills are impossible is what you are saying?

No worries if not, just wondering so I can plan accordingly.
