It's possible to take the free Air Tahiti shuttle to Vaitape (15 minutes), followed by a taxi to the IC Le Moana for 2000XPF (15 minutes), then the IC's shuttle between Le Moana and Thalasso for 3390 XPF per person one way (updated Dec 2019) (15 minutes). Use a bogo and pay one night= 2 nights
buy points for the rest.

you SHOULD get all nights at your purchased/bogo level..

Unfortunately, there are a few instances in which travelers made that assumption and had to go to the Coral suites for the rewards nights. I ended up looking at Hilton because I didn't want to take the chance, but I also didn't want to have to pay 200 dollars per night for the upgrade fee at Thalasso. Upgrade fee at Hilton for 5 nights in Deluxe OWB was 40,000 xpf, or roughly $550.

Was that with a HHonors status?

Was breakfast included?

Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately, I do not have enough points for either the IC or Hilton Bora Bora. At least the IC allows both points + cash for payment. It's too late to get more HH points through credit card promotions before the 3/28 devaluation.

I plan on going to Bora Bora for my honeymoon and will have to fork over some serious cash one way or the other.

At IC Thalasso, points + cash = 350, then 200 for upgrade. $550 total per night.

At Hilton Bora Bora, cash for OWB is a bit over $700 after tax.

Gold status, and yes, breakfast included. I'm kind of surprised that the upgrade fee is so low as well, as on the Hilton Bora Bora thread, many people reported upgrade fees for up to $200US per night.

Thanks fo the info.

Upgrade at XPF 8,000 per day: was it offered at check-in or did you buy it in advance?

You can email the hotel in advance and see if they will confirm upgrade for you.. they did for me. THis is assuming you're Ambassador/RA.

I am booking the Thalasso for my honeymoon later this October and just need some help re the ambassador membership. I have never been part of any hotel/points membership before so am new to all the terms used on this thread.

Im from the UK and considering joinging the ambassador membership. Am I automatically upgraded to the next level OWB if I join? I want a Diamond, so if I was to reserve the Saphire id be upgraded to Diamond 100%?

Also im completely unclear what the complimentary weekend night certificate is all about? Is this the bogo what everyone is referring to? Can someone explain to me in a 'dummies guide' way so im clear!

Im looking to stay at the Thalasso for 4 nights. At the moment its planned that I check in on a friday and check out the following tuesday. If I join Ambassador can I use this complimentary weekend night certificate to lower my rate?

thanks for reading my post!

Fraid not, the rules say that you will get an upgrade if one is available, but simply the hotel tells you it's not available and you have little come back. Also different hotels honour it to different degrees. Some will try hard, others will not.

Yes, one and the same. Note that you must use the bogo via a specific website, and the rate quoted for the paid night is often higher that the same night if you were booking it straight, by perhaps 20-30%. Not sure if that's the case for this property

Yes. You can use the bogo, for a paid Friday night and free sat, or paid sat and free Sunday. So check which one save you the most and use it for that one. Of course it does not affect the rate for the other nights.

This is interesting. In 2007 my husband and I visited Bangkok and hired a private Thai guide to escort us to the temples. I remember him complaining about "Chinese people" when they barged ahead of us in line.

How do I go about using the bogof? Does the Thalasso have a history of 'refusing' an upgrade by saying they are fully booked? Otherwise I may just go for the saphire and chance it was a diamond upgrade. Rather than Diamond and upgrade to diamond otemanu.

I'm planning a trip to BB for next year. However, I can't get the Intercon Thalasso to answer any of my emails. All other hotels have done so, just not them. The Le Moana answered my emails promptly, why can't the Thalasso?

I've read here that it takes about 21 days for email replies? I'm a little disappointed and concerned that if they can't answer emails, what will my experience be when I stay there?

I'm using points, and the Thalasso cost 20,000 more points than Le Moana. Thalasso is also rated as a top 5 Intercon hotel, so I'm quite confused as to what to do. Should I just pay the money to stay at St Regis instead?

Thanks!

So what are your questions? IC Thalasso is definitely a notch up than IC Le Moana, and is up to par to SRBB, after factoring in Otemanu views.

How deep is the water around the OWB's?

I know this has been discussed a little, but how is the transportation getting to/from the ferry terminal?

It'd be a little more reassuring if the hotel was answering these questions... but thanks in advance.
