Not sure, I thought it was mandatory lol! But it will take a long time to get to the hotel, I told myself for the money I already spent getting there, I think it's worth the $250 dollars for extra half a day to justify it hehe

We just got back last month and the shuttle between Le Moana and Thalasso is free during the day and cost 1810 xpf per person round trip in the evening. If you make it out to Le Moana by 2:15 PM (last free shuttle), you can come back anytime for free. The bus transfer between Le Moana to Vaitape is 1150 xpf round trip per person.

I can't imagine not being able to do this. When I stayed at the Hilton a couple years ago, this is what I did. The Hilton tried to sell me on their direct shuttle costing ~$95, but instead I just took the Air Tahiti free shuttle to Vaitape, then Hilton's $7 shuttle from Vaitape to the resort. I'd be shocked if IC Moana doesn't offer this as well.

I have two-night award booking (12/20-22) at this property. Unfortunately, I won't be able to go there this year. If anyone wants to coordinate booking (I'm not sure if this will work out in the end but worth a try) these to-be-released nights, please let me know.

If anyone has and will be releasing or willing to release any of these I would love to have them:
1/20/2016
1/21
1/22
1/23
1/24
1/25
I have 1/19 and 1/26 and will be staying for 1 week on bora bora.
Slightly separate idea. Does anyone know why they don't have 'standard rooms' for Hilton Bora Bora? 1/1-3/31/2016 no standard rooms :-(

The hotel cannot prevent anyone from taking the FREE shuttle boat from the airport into Vaitape. Then, it is a simple taxi ride to Le Moana.
Far cheaper than the hotel's boat and likely the same amount of time to get to the hotel!
So, if guests choose to take the hotel's transfer boat for that expensive cost, that's fine, it is your holiday and your money.
Think logically here: is Le Moana going to refuse to check you in to their hotel because you didn't show up on the boat?

Mandatory shuttle
I got the same email from IC Le Moana:
"We also remind you that boat transfers from the airport to the resort are mandatory for all hotel guests and costs 6031 cfp per person and per way. In order to well organise it, we would need your arrival and departure flight details."
I'm staying 3 nights at Le Moana followed by 3 nights at Thalasso. I'm going to ignore this email and take the Air Tahiti boat to Vaitape. I choose to interpret "mandatory" as "we really want you to do this because it is very profitable for us."
Their email also ignores the fact that some guests are staying at other resorts on Bora Bora before their stay at the IC resorts.
