Update in Hyatt BRG policy (April 2019): If your BRG claim is approved, you can choose either 5,000 World of Hyatt points or an additional 20% off the matched rate for your stay (defined as consecutive nights at the same location). Rates available on websites that require membership which is free of charge, or where membership is automatically created as part of the booking, are eligible for BRG claims.

.................................................. ..........

Recent Experiences Using the BRG (2018 and later)

YES
  • Hotels.com - April 2019
  • Booking.com - May 2019

MAYBE
  • Skoosh - April 2019 (initially rejected as "membership site" but approved on appeal)
NO
  • SnapTravel
.................................................. ..........

Update in Hyatt BRG policy (July 2017): if your BRG claim is approved, Hyatt will match the comparable lower rate, but will no longer offer a further 20% discount on the matched lower rate. Instead, after your stay on the BRG approved rate, you will receive a US$50 credit (or equivalent amount in the currency of your country of residence) to use on a future stay (completed within 12 months) booked on a Standard Rate, Advance Purchase Rate or Member Rate on Hyatt.com.

Q. How do I receive the $50 credit?
A. About 3-4 days after your BRG stay, Hyatt will email you a unique rate code to apply for your new reservation. You can either click on the link in the mail to book the reservation or manually enter it into the booking at Hyatt.com.

Q. Can I use the code more than once?
A. No. The code is invalid when it has already been attached to a reservation.

Q. Can I use the code to lower a rate like AAA or Double Points?
A. No. The BRG code books into its own unique rate class and can't be used with any other promotional rates.

Q. What happens if I cancel my reservation with the BRG code applied?
A. The code will can be re-used for another reservation. For this reason, DO NOT DELETE THE EMAIL FROM HYATT UNTIL AFTER YOUR STAY.

Q. What happens if a lower base rate appears available after I book the BRG rate?
A. You can cancel the first reservation (assuming there's no penalty) and then rebook using the code for the lower rate.

.................................................. ..........

If you are dissatisfied with the response to your BRG claim, and it was processed by the Hyatt Service Desk in Omaha (9805 Q Street), you can consider filing a consumer complaint (link to online form) with the Nebraska Attorney General's Office (Consumer Protection Division). Note that the online complaint form requires you to fill in a correspondence address in the US (though you can state a preference to receive correspondence by e-mail rather than by post). As reported in Post # 2691, if the AG's Office decides to investigate, it is possible that Hyatt will review your BRG claim again and, in addition, offer points for the inconvenience.

If your BRG claim was processed by the Hyatt Service Desk in Marion (1120 North Carbon Street Suite 70), you can consider filing a consumer complaint (link to online form) with the Illinois Attorney General's Office.

Grand Hyatt Berlin

My first BRG success!

Grand Hyatt Berlin
Room Type: King
Hyatt Price: €219/night
venere.com Price: €164.25/night before promo code, €151.11 after
Adjusted Price: €131.40

Venere had an 8% off promo code, but they disregarded it for the purpose of the adjusted price.

Ok. I was wrong. I just checked my email and they approved my BRG 45 mins ago.

Grand Hyatt Atlanta in Buckhead
Room Type: King
Hyatt Price: $179/night (but I originally booked at $153/night with corporate code).
Priceline.com Price: $167.36/night
Adjusted Price: $133.89/night

And to think, I was partially considering booking the $144/night Black Friday deal but it was non-refundable. I decided not to b/c I figured I could get a better rate with discount gift cards at the $153/night. Now I'll get an even better rate with gift cards!

Park Hyatt Tokyo
Arrival Date: 02/11/2016
Departure Date: 02/13/2016
Number of guests: 2
Room Type: King
Hyatt Price: 187100 JPY for 2 nights with all taxes (non-refundable)
Amoma price: 125060 JPY (2 nights included taxes and non-refundable)
Hyatt matched without questions at: Rates: 50,024.00 JPY per night prior to taxes & fees but didn't need to pay up front and was cancellable
Total price 125060 which identically matched Amoma (so no 20% discount).

I've not quibbled the price as it's a good discount to the rate I was seeing at Hyatt and elsewhere and the room description didn't exactly match plus my room is cancellable. I assume that's the sensible thing to do and not be greedy?

First post for years! This thread is magnificent, thank god I saw it.

Funny you should mention your BRG is cancellable but the competing rate was not. The same thing happened to me a few months ago (I'm able to cancel my stay with the BRG)....I thought I was gettin' away with something.

Funny - I got a reply saying that amoma.com is a membership site, despite multiple confirmation here... Should i try again?

I am excited to hear of your desire to stay with us and your interest in our Best Rate Guarantee program. After researching, I was unable to validate your submission based on the website: amoma.com requires a membership to make reservations. Additional information regarding your submission is available below.

Continued my string of strike outs. This time with Prestigia.com for the following:

"After researching, I was unable to validate your submission since the third party website is not immediately bookable and they will provide a confirmation number via email 24-48 hours later to customer."

Despite the fact on the booking page it says immediately validated and confirmed...

I would try again. I've had success with both amoma and prestigia.

Too bad hyatt.com is down yet again. I'm really surprised that I managed to find a hotel site even less reliable than spg.com.

It's ridiculous that they call hoteltravel.com a membership site. It's a membership site the exact same say hotels.com is - you can join if you want points, but there is no requirement to do so. It's looking more and more like Hyatt is just way too arbitrary and anti-consumer for me. What a waste of a status match.

Yep..funny, I just got a rejection for the BRG claim against AMOMA, saying that it is not instant confirmed website. It looks like Hyatt is approving BRG on random basis, or it is a pure scam.

MMM well based on my experience with Hyatt before SPG, there BRG was awesome.

SPG's BRG was bogus for me because you can't call in and they would take 48-72 hours to respond.

By than the rate has already gone up.

Hyatt gives you an opportunity to debate over the phone. Works out for me everytime.
