Update in Hyatt BRG policy (April 2019): If your BRG claim is approved, you can choose either 5,000 World of Hyatt points or an additional 20% off the matched rate for your stay (defined as consecutive nights at the same location). Rates available on websites that require membership which is free of charge, or where membership is automatically created as part of the booking, are eligible for BRG claims.

Update in Hyatt BRG policy (July 2017): if your BRG claim is approved, Hyatt will match the comparable lower rate, but will no longer offer a further 20% discount on the matched lower rate. Instead, after your stay on the BRG approved rate, you will receive a US$50 credit (or equivalent amount in the currency of your country of residence) to use on a future stay (completed within 12 months) booked on a Standard Rate, Advance Purchase Rate or Member Rate on Hyatt.com.
Q. How do I receive the $50 credit?
A. About 3-4 days after your BRG stay, Hyatt will email you a unique rate code to apply for your new reservation. You can either click on the link in the mail to book the reservation or manually enter it into the booking at Hyatt.com.
Q. Can I use the code more than once?
A. No. The code is invalid when it has already been attached to a reservation.
Q. Can I use the code to lower a rate like AAA or Double Points?
A. No. The BRG code books into its own unique rate class and can't be used with any other promotional rates.
Q. What happens if I cancel my reservation with the BRG code applied?
A. The code will can be re-used for another reservation. For this reason, DO NOT DELETE THE EMAIL FROM HYATT UNTIL AFTER YOUR STAY.
Q. What happens if a lower base rate appears available after I book the BRG rate?
A. You can cancel the first reservation (assuming there's no penalty) and then rebook using the code for the lower rate.
.................................................. ..........
If you are dissatisfied with the response to your BRG claim, and it was processed by the Hyatt Service Desk in Omaha (9805 Q Street), you can consider filing a consumer complaint (link to online form) with the Nebraska Attorney General's Office (Consumer Protection Division). Note that the online complaint form requires you to fill in a correspondence address in the US (though you can state a preference to receive correspondence by e-mail rather than by post). As reported in Post # 2691, if the AG's Office decides to investigate, it is possible that Hyatt will review your BRG claim again and, in addition, offer points for the inconvenience.
If your BRG claim was processed by the Hyatt Service Desk in Marion (1120 North Carbon Street Suite 70), you can consider filing a consumer complaint (link to online form) with the Illinois Attorney General's Office.

I have the same experience with websites less popular than the usual hotels.com, orbitz.com... "not immediately bookable". Which isn't true. And those websites are accepted without issue with SPG and Marriott.
Hyatt BRG doesn't go better and play the same silly game as Club Carlson or IHG.

MMM well based on my experience with Hyatt before SPG, there BRG was awesome.
SPG's BRG was bogus for me because you can't call in and they would take 48-72 hours to respond.
By than the rate has already gone up.
Hyatt gives you an opportunity to debate over the phone. Works out for me everytime.

How do u make the debate over the phone? I tried to call the number they provided in the rejection email (and it was wrong) but got replied that we have a professional team and u must respect their decision. mmmm..then I tried two more times and asked what is the reason for rejection, and guess what? they gave me three different reasons: not immediately confirmed comes first, then comes the reason that the price discrepancy is not big enough, and in the 3rd call they told me that they can not find the rate via the website I provided. So I think the BRG in Hyatt is a scam.
Call the number on the back of your hyatt card and explain you want to speak to the BRG department. (Possibly that # you have on the email is diff).
Reservations will than verify all your information, look it up themselves before transferring you over.
I even got Hyatt to beat an competitor even though it was an few pennies off (due to currency conversion, that site didn't update the daily rate)
In your case I respect you calling Hyatt an scam if they really did tell you "the discrepancy is not big enough" and technically one can sue hyatt if so. They have to beat it even if it's 1 penny off! So you get your % discount.
Not sure how you're starting your phone calls but seems like all the agents you get are pretty ignorant?

Park Hyatt Tokyo
Dates: 5 nights in late Jan 2016
Room Type: Park twin
Hyatt Price: 45000 JYP/night plus taxes and fees
Agoda.com Price: 355.71 USD/night plus taxes and fees
Adjusted Price: 34560 JPY/night plus taxes and fees (284.78 USD)
is this a good rate at this hotel? (i did apply dsu to this booking already so the room type now is "Park king suite")

Thanks for your instruction
I tried again to claim BRG on the same reservation, and this time the claim is still rejected. The reason is that they can not find "Park Hyatt" in Tokyo via Amoma.......LOL
I think I was patient in my previous calls, but I don't have patience anymore. After I complained about the my experience in email, the agent replied that they can not approve the BRG as claimed, but offer me 15k points as compensation. Well, this is generous I admit, however the price discrepancy is much larger than the value of 15k points. Anyway I am tired with this and it ends up with sth better than nothing.

Can't find on Amoma? I had SPG tell me the offer was no longer valid, I went back online and it was still there. When the agent responded another 72 hours later, it was gone
Called to complaint, agent responds, there's nothing we can do and if it can't be accepted than it can't be accepted. With an attitude of course.

Just so you know, I had the exact same issue with a different Hyatt hotel when trying to get a BRG via Amoma.

I just went in amoma.com and also was unable to find Park Hyatt Tokyo either. Which dates are you looking at? I also can't find amoma.com returning rates via tripadvisor, trivago, or kayak for Park Hyatt Tokyo.

Question:
Does anyone know "Why" this BRG thread is the "only one" that is Not (supposedly) Monitored by HGP? No longer monitored that is.
I was told a long time ago HGP now prefers to monitor other Social Media like Twitter...
Is this a lame excuse or what! They sure monitor other threads on Flyertalk.
It must be because the lack of consistency in handling many of the BRG Claims is an embarrassment.

I will admit that their BRG program needs to be revamped for more consistency.

Amoma seems to be the best nowadays to match with but that's if they accept it.
