Bill from E-commerce here. I agree and have forwarded this along to the GP development team to see if they are planning an enhancement in this area or, if not, add it to their list.
Best, Bill

So I tried to submit another request, this time for the 1W Diamond Amenity. But that doesn't work -- the website rejects a second request for the same stay outright with the error message

"You have already submitted an uncredited-stay request for these dates at this hotel. For assistance, please contact Hyatt Gold Passport Customer Service at 1-800-30-HYATT or your nearest Worldwide Reservation Center."

I know I can just email GP Customer Service, but IMO it's still a poorly designed feature.

Bill from E-Commerce here. This was a maintenance window needed to upgrade our systems. We are working to increase reservation system availability. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Thanks everyone. Bill from E-Commerce here. So, summarizing the comments re GP point special search, the issue with the GP awards come down to:
1) The old format was more compact and allowed easier review of GP bonus awards in a region a bit more quickly.
2) This is a variation of #1, and that is that if you are looking to travel around a region and stay in multiple cities, you have to do multiple searches. This was a use case we did not consider.

We'll take a look at a more compact version. While I do appreciate we have made this one path a bit more difficult, I also believe we greatly improved the overall special offers search capability by i) only having one place to search (not GP and hyatt.com) ii) making the search box more visible and work better iii) allowing us to better feature major promotions and iv) allowing special offers to be translated easily into 7 additional languages (admittedly probably not a big concern for people on this blog). That said, our goal wasn't to do this at he expense of making something else more difficult so we'll add taking a look at a more compact version to the enhancement list. Again, thanks for everyone's comments.

I've been having issues all afternoon when trying to book.

First issue is when typing in the destination and date. After I enter it, I get taken back to the screen to re-enter the info. I usually have to close the website, and start over..

Second, Sorry, we're experiencing technical difficulties and were unable to complete your request.

* Hyatt Home Page
* Find a Hotel
* Make a Reservation
* Hyatt Gold Passport
* Hyatt Vacation Club
* Customer Service

We apologize for any inconvenience this error may have caused. Our system has automatically logged this error, but if you want to give us some more details, please visit our website feedback form.

Bill from E-Commerce here. This is not good. I just checked the transaction monitors and everything looks fine except some very rare booking issues which I forwarded on to the operations group to look at - but nothing that would explain your problems. I also did a test booking without issue.

Possibly there is an issue with an individual server. If this were the case, closing your browser, reopening it and trying again would resolve the problem. However, if that were happening, the monitors should show something.

We'll take a closer look at the logs and see if we can figure out what happened.

We really are sorry for the inconvenience.

Anyone else seeing problems?

The site is really slow right now and sometimes times out. I have gotten the above error several times and the following one, when trying to make a reservation:

Service Temporarily Unavailable

The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later.

Yup. At around 3:30pm PST I was able to access the site and view my account and reservations just fine. I then did a transaction with Reservations over the phone and since I didn't see the update immediately online, I logged out to clear any session caches and tried to re-log in. Got the dreaded

"Service Temporarily Unavailable

The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later."

error. I switched to another browser and the home page came up. As I then received an email confirmation for the transaction (Suite upgrade), I didn't bother to try logging in.

Yes, for example, I recently was traveling for business for 10 days across DC, Dallas, Chicago, and stayed in 7 different hotels in these cities. The current way of searching for bonuses forced me to search each city at a time, and when I search for a city like Dallas, I had to scroll through a lot of properties I don't care about, since I was only staying at full service Hyatts and not Hyatt Place of Summerfield.

Problem with mapping @ Bing being rolled back now

Bill from E-Commerce here. Bing rolled out a service update which has broken a number of clients including Hyatt. Right now our booking search maps aren't displaying properly. Bing is rolling this back tonight and the mapping service should be restored to normal by tomorrow.

Why do you have these fricking maps in the first place? It is good to have them as an option but forcing them every time I am looking for Hyatt rates is just plain annoying and just slows down the pages.

Starwood used to have the maps turned on by default but changed this. Maybe Hyatt should to the same?

BTW right now I am getting:

Service Temporarily Unavailable

Bill, I think that most of us find the maps less than useful especially without proper scaling. For example, if you search for Washington DC properties, all the properties (from PH down to HP) will show up as one big "blob". The map might be useful if the scale can be blown up to show which areas the properties are actually in. Otherwise, it would be better if we could "turn off" the maps since they slow down the site quite a bit.

When you get that, try clearing your Hyatt/GP cookies or simply switch to another browser. I got that message just now when trying to access a promo page

http://www.hyatt.com/hyatt/place/spe...iday-promo.jsp

and it failed on my main browser (FF) that I use all the time to access Hyatt.com. Switched to Safari and it worked right away.

Very frustrating. Have cleaned out cookies, closed down and rebooted machine, but still get the errors every few minutes.
