If you get a room on ececutiv floor, you get access to the lounge. If not, you don't. These are the global rules.

I had a 1 night points stay there last week and was upgraded to the executive floor (as a Gold).

Hilton Munich City - July 2009

The Hilton Munich City (HHonors Category 5), Rosenheimer Strasse 15, 81667 Munich, Germany, Tel: +49-89-48040, Fax: +49-89-48044804, email: [email protected] is centrally located only 10 – 15 minutes from the city center. A subway station (S-Bahn) is right underneath the hotel. If you are arriving at MUC Franz-Josef-Strauss Airport the S8 will take you from the airport to the Hilton within 30 - 40 minutes. If you are arriving by car, there are almost no free parking spaces around the hotel. Covered self-parking is available for 22 € per day. A taxi stand is right in front of the hotel. A cab ride from the airport will cost you approximately 60 € ($80). There’s also a Sixt rental station on site.

Upon arrival I was greeted very friendly by the Front Desk agent who informed me, that they upgraded me to an Executive Room and there’s a separate check-in for Executive Floor guests on the 5th floor. She called her colleague at the Executive Floor, telling her, that I’m on my way. As soon as I stepped out of the elevator, I was greeted and escorted to the Executive Lounge where I was offered a welcome drink and checked-in within one or two minutes. The agent recognized that I have been to the Hilton Munich City several times before, so she assumed that I’m aware of all the hotel facilities but offered any help at any time, if I might be in need of anything. All my room preferences set in my profile were honored. In my room I found a personal welcome note, a bottle of complimentary water, one apple and three pieces of chocolate. The room was absolutely clean, spacious with the modern Hilton decor. A/C, a flat screen TV, a working area with internet access, bathrobes, slippers, in-room coffee-maker, iron, ironing-board and the Hilton clock were available. The minibar was stocked with: Orange juice, apple juice, mineral water, Coke, Diet Coke, Fanta, Sprite, Tonic Water 4.50 €, Evian 6.30 €, Red Bull 5.60 €, Heineken Beer 5.20 €, Beck's Beer 5.30 €, red wine (0.25 l) 11.50 €, Vodka, Gin, Martini 7.30 €, Cognac, Rum 8.30 €, Jack Daniels 8.80 € and Johnnie Walker Red Label 9.50 €. The bathroom was also spacious, clean, well lighted, with a huge tub and still the Crabtree & Evelyn amenities.

The Executive Lounge is located on the 5th floor. There is a computer with free internet access available. Sightseeing trips or restaurant reservations can also be arranged through the Executive Desk if you don’t want to use the Concierge in the Lobby. The selection of F&B in the lounge was very good. The spirits selection included: several red wines, Bacardi, Smirnoff, Gordon’s, Campari, Baileys, Ramazotti, Johnnie Walker and of course, Coke, Diet Coke, Tonic Water, Mineral water, Beck's and Red Bull. After having an appetizer at the lounge and one or two drinks we went downstairs to have dinner at the Löwenschänke restaurant. Service was very attentive and polite, the quality of the food way above average and the wine selection great, including German and international wines. All four of us had an appetizer or dessert and a main course and a bottle of red wine for a total of $ 175. Make sure to try the Bavarian creme which is absolutely fabulous!

We also had breakfast at the Löwenschänke restaurant. The selection was immense and included whatever you can imagine. Coffee, milk, skim milk, sparkling and non-sparkling water, assorted tea, different juices, French rolls, bread, toast, pastries, salmon, ham, salami, assorted cheese, spread cheese, honey, marmalade, fresh fruits, fruit salad, yoghurt, tomatoes, cucumbers, olives and much much more. Beside the warm buffet with scrambled eggs, sausages, baked mushrooms, baked tomatoes and potato wedges there was also a chef who prepared omelets and waffles.

Check-out was fast, polite and accurate.

Final notes: I have been to the Hilton Munich City several times so far. I always had a wonderful stay. The service has been always great but it seems that great isn’t good enough. Every time I return things get better and better. Every single employee is very attentive, polite and tries everything to make you feel very welcome. I’ll definitely return and I highly recommend this property.

I have stayed there several times as well and can only agree with your assessment. Great hotel in perfect location indeed! ^

I have stayed at this propery over 50 times during the years. As with the other posters, I can recommend it, particularly as it is so convenient to get to from the airport (just take the S8). However, I also add a few words of caution. There seem to be a few new members of staff recently of service has been slipping. For my last visit I wasn't allowed to check in early as my room wasn't ready (at 1.30 pm!). Although the hotel was full I wasn't permitted to have another room apart form the one allocated to me and they wouldn't tell me the room number before I was allowed in. I said I needed to know the number as I was going to have lunch in the restaurant, but was assured this wasn't necessary as I just needed to give them my name. Needless to say the restaurant disagreed and I was forced to run to reception to get the room number, which was given with bad grace as "the protocol is that you don't need it, the restaurant should know this". On telling the waiter he just walked off without a word.

This would never have happened before. They have always found a room for me to use (even before I was Diamond), and the staff have been polite. On the one occasion I had a complaint previously the Manager contacted me to make sure it had been resolved to my satisfaction. I heard nothing this time. I do hope it is not the start of something more serious.

Very nice hotel and a great location. Booked two nights on points and clicked the box for a free upgrade to the executive floor. I later went back into the reservation and clicked guaranteed upgrade for $39USD per night. Was not charged for the upgrade at check out . They also allowed me to check in at 9:00.

Are Diamonds still allowed complimentary breakfast in the restaurant, or is the executive lounge the only choice available? The reason I ask is that recent stays with Hilton Hotels that include executive lounges has been inconsistent.
Some hotels allow you to choose, while others limit your choice to the breakfast offered in the lounge(I'm not complaining, but the Munich City Hilton restaurant breakfast is awesome.). Anyone with recent experience?
Thanks in advance or your comments.

When I was there recently, you could *only* have breakfast in the Lounge.

However, one morning I woke up later than usual and the Lounge was so busy that the staff just could not keep up with the replenishing the food. So I went down to the front desk and they had gave me a vouchers for breakfast in the restaurant.

I am lowly Gold but was recently upgraded to Executive floor. Only breakfast option was the lounge. But have to say the lounge was the best I have been in Hiltons.

Anyway excellent stay after several US Hiltons. I am glad European Hiltons have maintained their level of service and haven't move "motel" level as their colleagues in USA.

24 hr rates are now EUR 22/EUR 17 respectively. No Swisscom smartphone rate on offer, more's the pity.
