Any sign of the new first class on routes to / from San Jose ?
Planning travel for Nov 17... will the A330 retrofit be complete by this date?

If you want an A330, you can fly out of SFO (HNL or OGG) or OAK (HNL only). I'm not sure the A330 refits will be completely done by mid-November, but if not they'd be very close to it. The probability is high that you'd get a refitted plane, and by that point they'll be guaranteeing lie-flats on some west coast routes.

We surprisingly received the lay flat seats on HA 2 from HNL to LAX yesterday. The crew seemed surprised that we received it.
The seats aren't quite as padded as the previous non lay flat, but being able to lay flat is certainly a nice option. I'm 6'2" and was able to lay completely flat after sliding up the seat some.
Ipads didnt seem seem to offer the selection of movies and TV that the previous system has. Big drawbacks here are that you have to wait for them to hand out the iPads and they collect them much earlier. We also found it a bad design choice that you have to put the iPad in he holder such that you can't access the power button without pulling it out. Since they've disabled the home button, it's a minor annoyance when the screen has turned off.
My wife thoroughly enjoyed getting some rest on the flight and found she had enough room when on her side to watch her own iPad without using the tablet holder.

I cannot imagine flying HA in anything but lie-flat F. I can't go back to Y or old F!
There is less time for ife with the new iPad pros but it's an acceptable sacrifice.

Yes! I haven't updated in awhile... 370, 374, 381, 385, 386, 388, 389, 395, 396 and 399 are all reconfigured. I believe 382 is in KPAE for its refitting now.

I posted in the thread regarding rows 11-13 and will add some comments here as well. My flight to HNL from JFK was supposed to be the old configuration but we wound up with the new lie flats instead. This caused major confusion to the ground crew and passengers holding reservations for seats that no longer existed. The ground crew said they were "surprised" but you would think they had a minimum of 10 hours to prepare shuffling passengers/seats while flight 50 was on its way to JFK. Most of the inconvenienced passengers took it in stride but one woman was very upset. I don't know where she ultimately wound up but it wasn't in the forward cabin. We departed about 30-45 minutes late due to the confusion and musical chairs.
I was seated in 11J on both flights. As stated above the scheduled JFK-HNL flight was supposed to be the old configuration. The HNL-JFK leg was scheduled for the lie flats and that's what we had. These are my thoughts on the new configuration (I am comparing to the "old" 11J seats):
A physical bulkhead wall does separate first and extra comfort.
There was enough leg room for me, plenty actually, but I am 5'1" and that could make a difference for taller folks.
It felt more "exclusive"....fewer seats in that small area behind first class. Very quiet although that probably depends on who is sitting in rows 11 and 12.
Requirement to use the overhead storage rather than put your things under the seat in front of you. I did not like this -- my height works against me here and I have a hip injury that didn't help (didn't stop me from going to Hawaii either!).
Aside from the new configuration -- folks in first class looked mighty pleased as well as comfortable -- the flights were fine, food was ok, flight crews were great. I cannot decide which seats I'll try to book next trip. I want the legroom and I think row 11 still has more room than other extra comfort seats. For me, I have to weight the comfort of 11J vs the annoyance of the overhead compartments.

I am going to spend $200 more each-way for non-refundable Hawaiian first instead of AA first for LAX-OGG in Feb 2018 for the flat bed. Anyone have doubts about flat beds not on this route by end of schedule?
