Emirates Seating Guide
A380
First:

First:
A380
First:
- Solo travelers: some say row 4 is loud from the galley behind, while row 1 may be a bit more cramped than other rows. Most suggest rows 2 or 3, seats A or K.
- Couple: E/F seats in rows 1-3 are all fairly similar.
- General: the mini cabin at the back has a more secluded feel, though some comment that there is noise from the bar beyond row 23.
- Solo travelers: most prefer seats A and K (solo seats on sides with windows).
- Couple: aim for seats E/F to be closer together.
- General comments: upgrade if at all possible!

777
First:
- Solo travelers: Row 1, especially 1a and 1k, is the worst because of galley and lavatory right in front. Noisy and high traffic. Not much difference between row 1 and 2 in terms of space on the 77w for k or a seats.
- Couple: there is not really any difference between row 1 and 2 for e and f seats except 1 is near the galley and 2 is near row 6 in j where there may be children
- General: There is limited direct aisle access as the configuration is 2-3-2. The rear J cabin will have Y pax move through on boarding.
- Solo travelers:
- Couple: 7 j and k are great if you don't mind the missing window. It's in the private mini cabin - a great choice unless you like window gazing. You also don't get y traffic passing through this cabin as you turn left on entry!
- General comments: Y on the 777 is for slim people.

Hi all,
Heading to to IAH on EK211 next week, in Y. I've booked myself into 43C (front row A380), though I've noticed that 43A has become available. Can anyone recommend one over the other? Does the bulkhead restrict legroom in these seats, or is it ample?
Thanks

A380 Business Seat Width
About to book a flight with Emirates to BKK via Hong Kong and bit concerned with the seat width as detailed by Seat Guru at just 18.5 inch. Having travelled on Qatar which is 22 inch and very happy, I am wondering just how tight the width is on Emirates. Particularly when the economy seats are almost the same width. I would be very grateful for any comments from regular bus class travellers as to the comfort of these seats.
It is some time since I travelled on Emirates and the last time was on a 777 which I seem to remember was a bit tight with 2-3-2 configuration compared to other airlines 2-2-2.
Emirates are showing a very decent price for this trip but I would not want to sacrifice comfort for cost. Particularly as one of the main reasons for travelling business class is a dickey back.
Thanks in anticipation

Most of my flights are on the B777. On the 4-5 flights I've done on the A380 in J over the last few months I've been surprised by how narrow the seats are. Frankly I'm a little surprised more people aren't pointing it out. When I lie on my back my arms are typically on the armrest rather than on the seat which is a little uncomfortable, even compared to the B777. Seat width apart it's a pretty good experience though.

I find it to be narrower but not too bad at all. The most important thing to me is how it handles being a bed. And in this regard there is at least some additional space. One of the armrests, depending on which side you're on, lowers with the seat to add 2/3 inches. That helps a lot. In seat mode it's fine. I don't have a pic sorry.

Just finished a two leg flight in J: MRU - DXB on A380 and DXB - BOS on a 777.
The A380 seat width is noticeably more narrow but with the minibar thing next to you it felt like there was more elbow room. Also the seat gets closer to 180 than the 777.
The 380s are overall a better flying experience but service can be a little spott(too many seats not enough staff).
Would say the service on the 777 has been fantastic.

But service does not mitigate the lousy J seats. As previous posters have said a bit on the narrow side, and frankly marginal at best. This is one area that I think many of the "majors" are catching up rapidly. BA has a great new J product, AF has a really nice business product especially on the 380, in fact I prefer AF over EK in J

Actually most people have been agreeing the 777s have wider seats than the 380. By BA's great new J product you mean their First Class?
Actually J gets to more or less 180, too, 180 degrees != horizontal, that's the primary difference, that the flatbed on the 777, while flat, rests at a slight angle, compared to the 380. I think the angle varies by aircraft, had a 772 recently which seemed to have a more pronounced angle than I remembered, but could've just been a bad dream, thinking I was slipping off

There are new seats coming on the 777 both in F and Biz I was told on a flight in January that the suites will have a higher "wall" and the business seats will be improved which I think we all agree could use it.

EK just chose to renovate their 77W with a "new" product which is uncompetitive with a number of other airlines' J product several years old.
