Emirates Seating Guide

A380

First:
  1. Solo travelers: some say row 4 is loud from the galley behind, while row 1 may be a bit more cramped than other rows. Most suggest rows 2 or 3, seats A or K.
  2. Couple: E/F seats in rows 1-3 are all fairly similar.
Business:
  1. General: the mini cabin at the back has a more secluded feel, though some comment that there is noise from the bar beyond row 23.
  2. Solo travelers: most prefer seats A and K (solo seats on sides with windows).
  3. Couple: aim for seats E/F to be closer together.
Economy:
  1. General comments: upgrade if at all possible!

777

First:
  1. Solo travelers: Row 1, especially 1a and 1k, is the worst because of galley and lavatory right in front. Noisy and high traffic. Not much difference between row 1 and 2 in terms of space on the 77w for k or a seats.
  2. Couple: there is not really any difference between row 1 and 2 for e and f seats except 1 is near the galley and 2 is near row 6 in j where there may be children
Business:
  1. General: There is limited direct aisle access as the configuration is 2-3-2. The rear J cabin will have Y pax move through on boarding.
  2. Solo travelers:
  3. Couple: 7 j and k are great if you don't mind the missing window. It's in the private mini cabin - a great choice unless you like window gazing. You also don't get y traffic passing through this cabin as you turn left on entry!
Economy:
  1. General comments: Y on the 777 is for slim people.

1) Will be travelling with economy class, so is it possible to have economy seat in upper deck ?

2) Which seat in economy have below characteristics:
a) good leg space
b) away from toilet / lavatory
c) window side
d) can easily enter/exit seat without disturbing other passengers

Finally, what else is there to look / enjoy in A380 which is not there in normal planes ?

Thanks

1. No, not on this route.
2a. All are "reasonable" for economy seating, but exit rows are where you will see a marked improvement. Exit rows are allocated at check in.
2b. See the seatmaps mentioned in post #2, or plenty more available on line.
2c. All the "A" seats and "K" seats.
2d. Window seats mean disturbing other passengers to get out, unless its an exit row.

If you want any of the stuff you mention, upgrade to a business class seat.

You'll no doubt be receiving a Xmas card from the OP for the useful advice you managed to dispense.

To the OP:

As mentioned in the initial replies, you can see the seatmap yourself and determine what seat will suit your needs best according to your various concerns. Then just make sure you pick a seat you like well in advance, online at Manage My Bookings.

Unfortunately, "ease of getting in/out of your seat" is really only achievable with an emergency exit seat, which is only assigned at the airport, but a good advance seat selection should achieve the rest of what you wish.

Thank you all for advise.

Actually, what I learned somewhere on this site, that, seatguru.com has old version of A380 and not the latest aircraft which emirates has. I saw recently on emirates FB site, that they have replaced existing with new (upgraded) A380. So, I think seatguru.com might now show the real A380 airbus flying to AU.

I like window seat because I notice that myself feel more relaxed when I see the day light. This keeps me active and relaxed. If I will not sit on window then I think I will feel bore and lazy. Therefore window seat is must in my case.

I think I should leave the decision until check-in. And will try to reach early at airport to finalize reasonable seat selection at time of boarding pass issue.

Thank you again !!

Bye,
Viki.

Couldn't help but smile at that one ^

I generally take the view that when a poster comes on with (rational) questions about Y class seating etc, they have made a clear decision to book economy for one reason or another, and are just looking for (rational !) advice.

Apart from the new 2-class A380, I'm not aware of any drastic differences between v1 and v2 of the 3-class A380 - perhaps someone more familiar can chime in.

You really, really shouldn't. If you assign something now, you have the chance to get something better at the airport but also have the existing assignment to fall back on. If you leave it until reaching the airport, there's every chance that you won't like any of the seats that remain available by the time you get there.

There is neither any cost nor disadvantage in assigning your seat now. I strongly advise that you pick something that looks good for now.

What's even more amusing is that it was not even a particularly warranted comment, given that the things OP was seeking could mostly be secured even in Y.

Had the OP had asked something like "Can I get a fully flat bed in Y?", then the only possible answer would have been "book F or J" - but this just wasn't one of those situations.

V1 and V2 are usually used to differentiate between LR and ULR versions, where the main difference is the crew rest area and 28 less Y seats.

I think viki250 is referring to the newer models, which have had a few minor upgrades.

2 extra Y seats (80A and K) from A6-EEU onwards.

New, larger ICE screens and new controllers from A6-EEF onwards.

Range improved from A6-EEL onwards, ensuring these are used on some of the longer routes.

Very reasonable. Correct. Will be selecting seat in advance.

Also, I just realized that flight hours are not much long. Its around 11 hrs non-stop flight. I think I should not be around exit rows purposely.

Thanks again. This forum is awesome for newbies like me ^

Bye,
Viki

Gosh. What is your idea of a long flight ?

13hrs is the longest I can bear. If Jennifer A was to fly in the same flight, I would tape her mouth !

F Seating on Emirates 777-200LR

How much noisier is 1A than 2A on the Emirates 777-200LR? I have read that 1A might have some galley noise? Which one is recommended? I regularly fly F on the A380 from DXB-JFK and know my seat preference for that aircraft (2A) and least favourite 4A, but I have yet to fly on the 777-200LR. Any advice will be welcome.

Nothing between them. You may get a baby in row 6 of the j cabin so row 1 may be better. I tend to go for row 2 just out of habit. Have this flight again in Jan to HND and have gone for 2 e and f.
