Emirates Seating Guide

A380

First:
  1. Solo travelers: some say row 4 is loud from the galley behind, while row 1 may be a bit more cramped than other rows. Most suggest rows 2 or 3, seats A or K.
  2. Couple: E/F seats in rows 1-3 are all fairly similar.
Business:
  1. General: the mini cabin at the back has a more secluded feel, though some comment that there is noise from the bar beyond row 23.
  2. Solo travelers: most prefer seats A and K (solo seats on sides with windows).
  3. Couple: aim for seats E/F to be closer together.
Economy:
  1. General comments: upgrade if at all possible!

777

First:
  1. Solo travelers: Row 1, especially 1a and 1k, is the worst because of galley and lavatory right in front. Noisy and high traffic. Not much difference between row 1 and 2 in terms of space on the 77w for k or a seats.
  2. Couple: there is not really any difference between row 1 and 2 for e and f seats except 1 is near the galley and 2 is near row 6 in j where there may be children
Business:
  1. General: There is limited direct aisle access as the configuration is 2-3-2. The rear J cabin will have Y pax move through on boarding.
  2. Solo travelers:
  3. Couple: 7 j and k are great if you don't mind the missing window. It's in the private mini cabin - a great choice unless you like window gazing. You also don't get y traffic passing through this cabin as you turn left on entry!
Economy:
  1. General comments: Y on the 777 is for slim people.

Anything other than row 1.

I took 2 a and b for my downgraded HKT flight!

Can someone post a link to the A380 2 class seat plan please? It is not on the EK site or EK Source (and forget seat guru)
and
I read somewhere that J is between two sections of Economy on the top deck, if so and the rear bar is still there-how do they restrict it to J class pax?

J is at the rear of the upper deck, Y is at the front and extends past UL1 into the current J cabin.

Silverswimmer : you can read a useful briefing on the two-class A380, along with detailed seat map, in this piece from Australian Business Traveller

Thanks Folks

Will just stick with 6K (the very mini-J cabin) which was re-assigned to me after the 3 class to 2 class swap. Still the same gamble with it being next to a bassinet but I like my window seats and 6K or 1K were the only ones to select from.

Fingers crossed I don't get shuffled to a middle seat.

Safe & Happy Travels

Business class seats advice please

My wife and I are travelling from Manchester to Sydney via Dubai, we have selected our J seats as 12E/F for the first leg and 9E/F for the second and for the return flights.
On the Emirates booking site we are shown sat together ie with just the screen separating us, but on seat guru and another site the seats appear further apart, can anyone comment on the seats being together ie ideal for couples and also there location on the cabin.

the 'E and F' seats are next to each other, minibar is on the 'aisle side' on both seats

If you look carefully at the seating chart, you will see that some E/F pairs have the minibar on the 'outside' (i.e. right next to the aisle) and others on the 'inside (i.e. in between you and your seat mate).
Row 9 is of the first type, so OK for you. Row 12 is of the second type and you will struggle to communicate so I would suggest changing that one.
Unfortunately you can't say that odd numbered rows are ok and even numbered rows are not as row 13 is missing so the 'rule' changes there....
We were in 18E/F a few weeks ago and it was perfect for us.

I think it depends on whether the A380 is a 2 class or 3 class as the configurations are different. You need to check this first Oztraveller & then look on seat guru at the differing seats. One thing for sure is that rows 9 and 12 are different to each other so one or the other will be OK for you and the other one won't

Thanks for the replies, I have noted the difference between the seats and the position of the armrest however on the Emirates website when I select my seats for the Manchester Dubai leg the 12 E/F seats appear together and the 9 E/F appear apart, where on the Dubai Sydney leg it's the opposite way round, so I am assuming that the aircraft are a different configuration. Re the post above on the my booking page on the configuration it is showing, there is no row 18 ?anyone any ideas.
Would it be worth ringing or e mailing Emirates to confirm, but of course they can change aircraft without consultation anyway.
